1 N ow Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour (three o’clock in the afternoon),

And Peter and John were going up at the same time to the temple, at the hour of the prayer, the ninth,

2 a certain man crippled from his birth was being carried along, who was laid each day at that gate of the temple called Beautiful, so that he might beg for charitable gifts from those who entered the temple.

and a certain man, being lame from the womb of his mother, was being carried, whom they were laying every day at the gate of the temple, called Beautiful, to ask a kindness from those entering into the temple,

3 S o when he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them to give him a gift.

who, having seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, was begging to receive a kindness.

4 A nd Peter directed his gaze intently at him, and so did John, and said, Look at us!

And Peter, having looked stedfastly toward him with John, said, `Look toward us;'

5 A nd paid attention to them, expecting that he was going to get something from them.

and he was giving heed to them, looking to receive something from them;

6 B ut Peter said, Silver and gold (money) I do not have; but what I do have, that I give to you: in '> use of] the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!

and Peter said, `Silver and gold I have none, but what I have, that I give to thee; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and be walking.'

7 T hen he took hold of the man’s right hand with a firm grip and raised him up. And at once his feet and ankle bones became strong and steady,

And having seized him by the right hand, he raised up, and presently his feet and ankles were strengthened,

8 A nd leaping forth he stood and began to walk, and he went into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

and springing up, he stood, and was walking, and did enter with them into the temple, walking and springing, and praising God;

9 A nd all the people saw him walking about and praising God,

and all the people saw him walking and praising God,

10 A nd they recognized him as the man who usually sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement (bewilderment, consternation) over what had occurred to him.

they were knowing him also that this it was who for a kindness was sitting at the Beautiful gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what hath happened to him.

11 N ow while he firmly clung to Peter and John, all the people in utmost amazement ran together and crowded around them in the covered porch (walk) called Solomon’s.

And at the lame man who was healed holding Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch called Solomon's -- greatly amazed,

12 A nd Peter, seeing it, answered the people, You men of Israel, why are you so surprised and wondering at this? Why do you keep staring at us, as though by our power or piety we had made this man to walk?

and Peter having seen, answered unto the people, `Men, Israelites! why wonder ye at this? or on us why look ye so earnestly, as if by our own power or piety we have made him to walk?

13 T he God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified His Servant and Son Jesus, Whom you indeed delivered up and denied and rejected and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to let Him go.

`The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, did glorify His child Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, he having given judgment to release,

14 B ut you denied and rejected and disowned the Pure and Holy, the Just and Blameless One, and demanded a murderer to be granted to you.

and ye the Holy and Righteous One did deny, and desired a man -- a murderer -- to be granted to you,

15 B ut you killed the very Source (the Author) of life, Whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

and the Prince of the life ye did kill, whom God did raise out of the dead, of which we are witnesses;

16 A nd His name, through and by faith in His name, has made this man whom you see and recognize well and strong. the faith which is through and by Him has given the man this perfect soundness before all of you.

and on the faith of his name, this one whom ye see and have known, his name made strong, even the faith that through him did give to him this perfect soundness before you all.

17 A nd now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your rulers also.

`And now, brethren, I have known that through ignorance ye did, as also your rulers;

18 T hus has God fulfilled what He foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ (the Messiah) should undergo ill treatment and be afflicted and suffer.

and God, what things before He had declared through the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ should suffer, He did thus fulfil;

19 S o repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return, that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;

reform ye, therefore, and turn back, for your sins being blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

20 A nd that He may send the Christ (the Messiah), Who before was designated and appointed for you—even Jesus,

and He may send Jesus Christ who before hath been preached to you,

21 W hom heaven must receive until the time for the complete restoration of all that God spoke by the mouth of all His holy prophets for ages past.

whom it behoveth heaven, indeed, to receive till times of a restitution of all things, of which God spake through the mouth of all His holy prophets from the age.

22 T hus Moses said to the forefathers, The Lord God will raise up for you a Prophet from among your brethren as me; Him you shall listen to and understand by hearing and heed in all things whatever He tells you.

`For Moses, indeed, unto the fathers said -- A prophet to you shall the Lord your God raise up out of your brethren, like to me; him shall ye hear in all things, as many as he may speak unto you;

23 A nd it shall be that every soul that does not listen to and understand by hearing and heed that Prophet shall be utterly exterminated from among the people.

and it shall be, every soul that may not hear that prophet shall be utterly destroyed out of the people;

24 I ndeed, all the prophets from Samuel and those who came afterwards, as many as have spoken, also promised and foretold and proclaimed these days.

and also all the prophets from Samuel and those following in order, as many as spake, did also foretell of these days.

25 Y ou are the descendants (sons) of the prophets and the heirs of the covenant which God made and gave to your forefathers, saying to Abraham, And in your Seed (Heir) shall all the families of the earth be blessed and benefited.

`Ye are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant that God made unto our fathers, saying unto Abraham: And in thy seed shall be blessed all the families of the earth;

26 I t was to you first that God sent His Servant and Son Jesus, when He raised Him up '> provided and gave Him for us], to bless you in turning every one of you from your wickedness and evil ways.

to you first, God, having raised up His child Jesus, did send him, blessing you, in the turning away of each one from your evil ways.'
