Revelation 22 ~ Revelation 22

1 T hen he showed me the river whose waters give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, bright as crystal, going forth out of the throne of God and of the Lamb:

2 T hrough the middle of the broadway of the city; also, on either side of the river was the tree of life with its twelve varieties of fruit, yielding each month its fresh crop; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing and the restoration of the nations.

in the midst of its broad place, and of the river on this side and on that, a tree of life, yielding twelve fruits, in each several month rendering its fruits, and the leaves of the tree for the service of the nations;

3 T here shall no longer exist there anything that is accursed (detestable, foul, offensive, impure, hateful, or horrible). But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall worship Him.

and any curse there shall not be any more, and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him,

4 T hey shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.

and they shall see His face, and His name upon their foreheads,

5 A nd there shall be no more night; they have no need for lamplight or sunlight, for the Lord God will illuminate them and be their light, and they shall reign forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities).

and night shall not be there, and they have no need of a lamp and light of a sun, because the Lord God doth give them light, and they shall reign -- to the ages of the ages.

6 A nd he said to me, These statements are reliable (worthy of confidence) and genuine (true). And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His messenger (angel) to make known and exhibit to His servants what must soon come to pass.

And he said to me, `These words stedfast and true, and the Lord God of the holy prophets did send His messenger to shew to His servants the things that it behoveth to come quickly:

7 A nd behold, I am coming speedily. Blessed (happy and to be envied) is he who observes and lays to heart and keeps the truths of the prophecy (the predictions, consolations, and warnings) contained in this book.

Lo, I come quickly; happy he who is keeping the words of the prophecy of this scroll.'

8 A nd I, John, am he who heard and witnessed these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell prostrate before the feet of the messenger (angel) who showed them to me, to worship him.

And I, John, am he who is seeing these things and hearing, and when I heard and beheld, I fell down to bow before the feet of the messenger who is shewing me these things;

9 B ut he said to me, Refrain! I am a fellow servant along with yourself and with your brethren the prophets and with those who are mindful of and practice the messages of this book. Worship God!

and he saith to me, `See -- not; for fellow-servant of thee am I, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of those keeping the words of this scroll; before God bow.'

10 A nd he told me, Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book and make no secret of them, for the time when things are brought to a crisis and the period of their fulfillment is near.

And he saith to me, `Thou mayest not seal the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is nigh;

11 H e who is unrighteous (unjust, wicked), let him be unrighteous still; and he who is filthy (vile, impure), let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous (just, upright, in right standing with God), let him do right still; and he who is holy, let him be holy still.

he who is unrighteous -- let him be unrighteous still, and he who is filthy -- let him be filthy still, and he who is righteous -- let him be declared righteous still, and he who is sanctified -- let him be sanctified still:

12 B ehold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit.

And lo, I come quickly, and my reward with me, to render to each as his work shall be;

13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last (the Before all and the End of all).

I am the Alpha and the Omega -- the Beginning and End -- the First and the Last.

14 B lessed (happy and to be envied) are those who cleanse their garments, that they may have the authority and right to the tree of life and to enter through the gates into the city.

`Happy are those doing His commands that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of the life, and by the gates they may enter into the city;

15 w ithout are the dogs and those who practice sorceries (magic arts) and impurity and the murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and deals in falsehood (untruth, error, deception, cheating).

and without the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the whoremongers, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one who is loving and is doing a lie.

16 I , Jesus, have sent My messenger (angel) to you to witness and to give you assurance of these things for the churches (assemblies). I am the Root (the Source) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and brilliant Morning Star.

`I, Jesus did send my messenger to testify to you these things concerning the assemblies; I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star!

17 T he Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty '> of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened]; and whoever desires to do it, let him come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost.

And the Spirit and the Bride say, Come; and he who is hearing -- let him say, Come; and he who is thirsting -- let him come; and he who is willing -- let him take the water of life freely.

18 I warn everyone who listens to the statements of the prophecy '> predictions and the consolations and admonitions pertaining to them] in this book: If anyone shall add anything to them, God will add and lay upon him the plagues (the afflictions and the calamities) that are recorded and described in this book.

`For I testify to every one hearing the words of the prophecy of this scroll, if any one may add unto these, God shall add to him the plagues that have been written in this scroll,

19 A nd if anyone cancels or takes away from the statements of the book of this prophecy '> predictions relating to Christ’s kingdom and its speedy triumph, together with the consolations and admonitions or warnings pertaining to them], God will cancel and take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the city of holiness (purity and hallowedness), which are described and promised in this book.

and if any one may take away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the scroll of the life, and out of the holy city, and the things that have been written in this scroll;'

20 H e Who gives this warning and affirms and testifies to these things says, Yes (it is true). I am coming quickly (swiftly, speedily). Amen (so let it be)! Yes, come, Lord Jesus!

he saith -- who is testifying these things -- `Yes, I come quickly!' Amen! Yes, be coming, Lord Jesus!

21 T he grace (blessing and favor) of the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) be with all the saints (God’s holy people, those set apart for God, to be, as it were, exclusively His). Amen (so let it be)!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
