1 T o the Overseer. -- A Psalm of David. Jehovah doth answer thee, In a day of adversity, The name of the God of Jacob doth set thee on high,
¶ Let the LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; let the name of the God of Jacob lift thee up
2 H e doth send thy help from the sanctuary, And from Zion doth support thee,
and send thee help from the sanctuary and strengthen thee out of Zion
3 H e doth remember all thy presents, And thy burnt-offering doth reduce to ashes. Selah.
and remember all thy offerings and reduce thy burnt sacrifice to the ashes of burnt fat, Selah.
4 H e doth give to thee according to thy heart, And all thy counsel doth fulfil.
Grant thee according to thine heart and fulfil all thy counsel.
5 W e sing of thy salvation, And in the name of our God set up a banner. Jehovah doth fulfil all thy requests.
We will rejoice in thy saving health, and in the name of our God we will be standard-bearers: let the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.
6 N ow I have known That Jehovah hath saved His anointed, He answereth him from His holy heavens, With the saving might of His right hand.
¶ Now know I that the LORD has kept his anointed; he will hear him from the heavens of his holiness with the saving valour of his right hand.
7 S ome of chariots, and some of horses, And we of the name of Jehovah our God Make mention.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
8 T hey -- they have bowed and have fallen, And we have risen and station ourselves upright.
They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen and stand upright.
9 O Jehovah, save the king, He doth answer us in the day we call!
The LORD saves the king; let him hear us on the day when we call.
