1 P raise ye Jah! Praise, O my soul, Jehovah.

¶ Halelu-JAH. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

2 I praise Jehovah during my life, I sing praise to my God while I exist.

In my life I will praise the LORD; I will sing praises unto my God while I live.

3 T rust not in princes -- in a son of man, For he hath no deliverance.

Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man in whom there is no salvation.

4 H is spirit goeth forth, he returneth to his earth, In that day have his thoughts perished.

His spirit shall go forth, he shall return to his earth; in that very day all his thoughts shall perish.

5 O the happiness of him Who hath the God of Jacob for his help, His hope on Jehovah his God,

¶ Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God;

6 M aking the heavens and earth, The sea and all that in them, Who is keeping truth to the age,

who made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is therein; who keeps truth for ever:

7 D oing judgment for the oppressed, Giving bread to the hungry.

He who does justice unto the oppressed; who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD looses the prisoners:

8 J ehovah is loosing the prisoners, Jehovah is opening (the eyes of) the blind, Jehovah is raising the bowed down, Jehovah is loving the righteous,

The LORD opens the eyes of the blind; the LORD raises those that are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous:

9 J ehovah is preserving the strangers, The fatherless and widow He causeth to stand, And the way of the wicked He turneth upside down.

The LORD preserves the strangers; he raises up the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.

10 J ehovah doth reign to the age, Thy God, O Zion, to generation and generation, Praise ye Jah!

The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, from generation to generation. Halelu-JAH.
