1 A fter this, Jesus again showed Himself to His followers at the lake of Tiberias. It happened like this:

After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he manifested thus.

2 S imon Peter and Thomas who was called the Twin and Nathanael from the town of Cana in the country of Galilee and the sons of Zebedee and two other followers were all together.

There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael who was of Cana of Galilee, and the of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.

3 S imon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” The others said, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into a boat. That night they caught no fish.

Simon Peter says to them, I go to fish. They say to him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and went on board, and that night took nothing.

4 E arly in the morning Jesus stood on the shore of the lake. The followers did not know it was Jesus.

And early morn already breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; the disciples however did not know that it was Jesus.

5 T hen Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They said, “No.”

Jesus therefore says to them, Children, have ye anything to eat? They answered him, No.

6 H e said to them, “Put your net over the right side of the boat. Then you will catch some fish.” They put out the net. They were not able to pull it in because it was so full of fish.

And he said to them, Cast the net at the right side of the ship and ye will find. They cast therefore, and they could no longer draw it, from the multitude of fishes.

7 T hen the follower whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Peter heard it was the Lord, he put on his fisherman’s coat. (He had taken it off.) Then he jumped into the water.

That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved says to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter therefore, having heard that it was the Lord, girded his overcoat (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea;

8 T he other followers came in the boat. They were pulling the net with the fish. They were not far from land, only a little way out.

and the other disciples came in the small boat, for they were not far from the land, but somewhere about two hundred cubits, dragging the net of fishes.

9 W hen they came to land they saw fish and bread on a fire.

When therefore they went out on the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.

10 J esus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”

Jesus says to them, Bring of the fishes which ye have now taken.

11 S imon Peter went out and pulled the net to land. There were 153 big fish. The net was not broken even with so many.

Simon Peter went up and drew the net to the land full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty-three; and though there were so many, the net was not rent.

12 J esus said to them, “Come and eat.” Not one of the followers would ask, “Who are You?” They knew it was the Lord.

Jesus says to them, Come dine. But none of the disciples dared inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

13 J esus came and took bread and fish and gave it to them.

Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives it to them, and the fish in like manner.

14 T his was the third time Jesus had shown Himself to His followers after He had risen from the dead. The Risen Christ Talks to Peter

This is already the third time that Jesus had been manifested to the disciples, being risen from among dead.

15 W hen they were finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” Peter answered Jesus, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My lambs.”

When therefore they had dined, Jesus says to Simon Peter, Simon, of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Feed my lambs.

16 J esus said to Peter the second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He answered Jesus, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Take care of My sheep.”

He says to him again a second time, Simon, of Jonas, lovest thou me? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Shepherd my sheep.

17 J esus said to Peter the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter felt bad because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?” He answered Jesus, “Lord, You know everything. You know I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.

He says to him the third time, Simon, of Jonas, art thou attached to me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Art thou attached to me? and said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. Jesus says to him, Feed my sheep.

18 F or sure, I tell you, when you were young, you put on your belt and went wherever you wanted to go. When you get old, you will put out your hands and someone else will put on your belt and take you away where you do not want to go.”

Verily, verily, I say to thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst where thou desiredst; but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and bring thee where thou dost not desire.

19 H e said this to tell Peter what kind of death he would die to honor God. After Jesus said this, He said to Peter, “Follow Me.”

But he said this signifying by what death he should glorify God. And having said this, he says to him, Follow me.

20 P eter turned around. He saw the follower whom Jesus loved, following. This one had been beside Jesus at the supper. This is the one who had asked Jesus, “Lord, who will hand You over?”

Peter, turning round, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned at supper on his breast, and said, Lord, who is it that delivers thee up?

21 P eter saw him and said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this one?”

Peter, seeing him, says to Jesus, Lord, and what this ?

22 J esus said, “If I want this one to wait until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”

Jesus says to him, If I will that he abide until I come, what to thee? Follow thou me.

23 S o the news spread among the followers that this follower would not die. But Jesus did not say to him that he would not die. He said, “If I want him to wait until I come, what is that to you?” John Tells That He Wrote This Book

This word therefore went out among the brethren, That disciple does not die. And Jesus did not say to him, He does not die; but, If I will that he abide until I come, what to thee?

24 T his is the follower who is telling of these things and who has written them. We know that his word is true.

This is the disciple who bears witness concerning these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his witness is true.

25 T here are many other things which Jesus did also. If they were all written down, I do not think the world itself could hold the books that would be written.

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they were written one by one, I suppose that not even the world itself would contain the books written.
