1 U nto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

Unto You, O Lord, do I bring my life.

2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.

3 Y ea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Yes, let none who trust and wait hopefully and look for You be put to shame or be disappointed; let them be ashamed who forsake the right or deal treacherously without cause.

4 S hew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.

5 L ead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You do I wait all the day long.

6 R emember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercy and loving-kindness; for they have been ever from of old.

7 R emember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.

Remember not the sins (the lapses and frailties) of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your mercy and steadfast love remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

8 G ood and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in way.

9 T he meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.

10 A ll the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.

11 F or thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

For Your name’s sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity and my guilt, for great.

12 W hat man is he that feareth the Lord ? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose.

13 H is soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land.

14 T he secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

The secret of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its meaning.

15 M ine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He will pluck my feet out of the net.

16 T urn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.

17 T he troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

The troubles of my heart are multiplied; bring me out of my distresses.

18 L ook upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

Behold my affliction and my pain and forgive all my sins.

19 C onsider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

Consider my enemies, for they abound; they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

O keep me, Lord, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed or disappointed, for my trust and my refuge are in You.

21 L et integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for and expect You.

22 R edeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Redeem Israel, O God, out of all their troubles.
