1 A nd the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

2 T his is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

This is the ritual of the law which the Lord has commanded: Tell the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without spot, in which is no blemish, upon which a yoke has never come.

3 A nd ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

And you shall give her to Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her outside the camp, and she shall be slaughtered before him.

4 A nd Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:

Eleazar the priest shall take some of her blood with his finger and sprinkle it toward the front of the Tent of Meeting seven times.

5 A nd one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:

The heifer shall be burned in his sight, her skin, flesh, blood, and dung.

6 A nd the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet and cast them into the midst of the burning heifer.

7 T hen the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

Then the priest shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water; afterward he shall come into the camp, but he shall be unclean until evening.

8 A nd he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

He who burns the heifer shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and shall be unclean until evening.

9 A nd a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.

And a man who is clean shall collect the ashes of the heifer and put them outside the camp in a clean place, and they shall be kept for the congregation of the Israelites for the water for impurity; it is a sin offering.

10 A nd he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

And he who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until evening. This shall be to the Israelites and to the stranger who sojourns among them a perpetual statute.

11 H e that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

He who touches the dead body of any person shall be unclean for seven days.

12 H e shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

He shall purify himself with the water for impurity on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean. But if he does not purify himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

13 W hosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the Lord; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

Whoever touches the corpse of any who has died and does not purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the Lord, and that person shall be cut off from Israel. Because the water for impurity was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is still upon him.

14 T his is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

This is the law when a man dies in a tent: all who come into the tent and all who are in the tent shall be unclean for seven days.

15 A nd every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

And every open vessel, which has no covering fastened upon it, is unclean.

16 A nd whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

And whoever in the open field touches one who is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a dead man, or a grave, shall be unclean for seven days.

17 A nd for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

And for the unclean, they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the sin offering, and the running water shall be put with it in a vessel.

18 A nd a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

And a clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons who were there, and upon him who touched the bone, or the slain, or the naturally dead, or the grave.

19 A nd the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day, and on the seventh day the unclean man shall purify himself, and wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at evening.

20 B ut the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the Lord: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. The water for purification has not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

21 A nd it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

And it shall be a perpetual statute to them. He who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and he who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening.

22 A nd whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.

And whatever the unclean person touches shall be unclean, and anyone who touches it shall be unclean until evening.
