1 S ing aloud to God our Strength! Shout for joy to the God of Jacob!

Sing for joy to God our strength; Shout joyfully to the God of Jacob.

2 R aise a song, sound the timbrel, the sweet lyre with the harp.

Raise a song, strike the timbrel, The sweet sounding lyre with the harp.

3 B low the trumpet at the New Moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.

4 F or this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

5 T his He ordained in Joseph '> savior] for a testimony when He went out over the land of Egypt. The speech of One Whom I knew not did I hear,

8 H ear, O My people, and I will admonish you—O Israel, if you would listen to Me!

9 T here shall no strange god be among you, neither shall you worship any alien god.

“Let there be no strange god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god.

10 I am the Lord your God, Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

“ I, the Lord, am your God, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

11 B ut My people would not hearken to My voice, and Israel would have none of Me.

“But My people did not listen to My voice, And Israel did not obey Me.

12 S o I gave them up to their own hearts’ lust and let them go after their own stubborn will, that they might follow their own counsels.

“So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart, To walk in their own devices.

13 O h, that My people would listen to Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!

“Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!

14 S peedily then I would subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their adversaries.

“I would quickly subdue their enemies And turn My hand against their adversaries.

15 t hose who hated the Lord would have come cringing before Him, and their defeat would have lasted forever.

“ Those who hate the Lord would pretend obedience to Him, And their time of punishment would be forever.

16 w ould feed also with the finest of the wheat; and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy you.

“ But I would feed you with the finest of the wheat, And with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
