8 T hen Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them, Ye princes of the people and elders of Israel,

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:

9 i f we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole,

If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,

10 b e it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole.

let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.

11 T his is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’

17 B ut that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them that from now on they speak to no man in this name.

20 F or we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

21 S o when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way how they might punish them because of the people, for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.

And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

24 A nd when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord and said, Lord, thou art the God, who hast made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them,

So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

25 w ho (in the Holy Spirit) by the mouth of thy servant David (our father) hast said, Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine vain things?

who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, And the people plot vain things?

26 T he kings of the earth were present, and the princes were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ.

The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the L ord and against His Christ.’

28 t o do that which thy hand and thy counsel had determined beforehand must be done.

to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.

29 A nd now, Lord, behold their threatenings and grant unto thy slaves that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,

30 t hat thou might stretch forth thine hand so that healings and signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy slave Jesus.

by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

31 A nd when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Sharing in All Things
