Lord, remember David And all his afflictions;

2 H ow he swore unto the LORD and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

How he swore to the Lord, And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

3 s urely I will not come into the habitation of my house nor go up into my bed,

“Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed;

4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,

I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids,

5 u ntil I find out a place for the LORD, a habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

Until I find a place for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

6 B ehold, we heard of her in Ephratah; we found her in the fields of the wood.

Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; We found it in the fields of the woods.

Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool.

8 A rise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.

Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.

9 T hy priests are clothed with righteousness, and thy merciful ones shout for joy.

Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, And let Your saints shout for joy.

10 F or the love of thy slave David, do not turn away thy face from thine anointed.

For Your servant David’s sake, Do not turn away the face of Your Anointed.

11 The LORD has sworn truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body I will set upon thy throne.

The Lord has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body.

12 I f thy sons will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their sons shall also sit upon thy throne for ever.

If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I shall teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”

13 F or the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired her for his habitation.

For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:

14 T his shall be my rest for ever; here I will dwell; for I have desired her.

“This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.

I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 I will also clothe her priests with saving health, and her merciful ones shall shout aloud for joy.

I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

17 T here will I make the horn of David to bud; I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.

There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.

18 H is enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon himself shall his crown blossom.

His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”
