1 ¶ Thus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Moab and for the fourth, I will not convert her because she burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime;
Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.
2 b ut I will send fire in Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die in tumult, with shouting and with the sound of the shofar:
But I will send a fire upon Moab, And it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; Moab shall die with tumult, With shouting and trumpet sound.
3 a nd I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof and will slay all the princes thereof with him, said the LORD.

4 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Judah and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they have despised the law of the LORD and have not kept his statutes, and their lies caused them to err after which their fathers have walked:
Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have despised the law of the Lord, And have not kept His commandments. Their lies lead them astray, Lies which their fathers followed.
5 b ut I will send fire in Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
But I will send a fire upon Judah, And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.” Judgment on Israel
6 T hus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Israel and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they sold the righteous for silver and the poor for a pair of shoes,
Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for silver, And the poor for a pair of sandals.
7 d esiring that there be dust of the earth upon the head of the poor, and to twist the way of the humble: and the man and his father have gone in unto the same maid, profaning my holy name:
They pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor, And pervert the way of the humble. A man and his father go in to the same girl, To defile My holy name.
8 a nd they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by any altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge, And drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
9 ¶ Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as an oak; yet I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.

10 A lso I brought you up from the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness that you might possess the land of the Amorite.

11 A nd I raised up of your sons for prophets and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye sons of Israel? said the LORD.

12 B ut ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Do not prophesy.
“But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, And commanded the prophets saying, ‘Do not prophesy!’
13 B ehold, I will press you in your place, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
“Behold, I am weighed down by you, As a cart full of sheaves is weighed down.
14 T herefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver his soul:
Therefore flight shall perish from the swift, The strong shall not strengthen his power, Nor shall the mighty deliver himself;
15 n either shall he that handles the bow stand; and he that is swift of foot shall not escape: neither shall he that rides the horse save his life.
He shall not stand who handles the bow, The swift of foot shall not escape, Nor shall he who rides a horse deliver himself.
16 A nd he that is strong among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, said the LORD.
The most courageous men of might Shall flee naked in that day,” Says the Lord.
