1 A nd Job answered Jehovah and said,

Then Job answered the Lord and said,

2 I know that thou canst do everything, and that thou canst be hindered in no thought of thine.

“I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

3 W ho is he that obscureth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered what I did not understand; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”

4 H ear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and inform me.

‘Hear, now, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You instruct me.’

5 I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee:

“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;

6 W herefore I abhor, and repent in dust and ashes.

Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes.” God Displeased with Job’s Friends

7 A nd it came to pass after Jehovah had spoken these words to Job, that Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, Mine anger is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken rightly of me, like my servant Job.

It came about after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.

8 A nd now, take for yourselves seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt-offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for him will I accept: lest I deal with you folly, for ye have not spoken of me rightly, like my servant Job.

Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

9 T hen Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, went and did according as Jehovah had said unto them; and Jehovah accepted Job.

So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job. God Restores Job’s Fortunes

10 A nd Jehovah turned the captivity of Job, when he had prayed for his friends; and Jehovah gave Job twice as much as he had before.

The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold.

11 A nd all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house, and they condoled with him, and comforted him concerning all the evil that Jehovah had brought upon him; and every one gave him a piece of money, and every one a golden ring.

Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversities that the Lord had brought on him. And each one gave him one piece of money, and each a ring of gold.

12 A nd Jehovah blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; and he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.

The Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had 14, 000 sheep and 6, 000 camels and 1, 000 yoke of oxen and 1, 000 female donkeys.

13 A nd he had seven sons and three daughters.

He had seven sons and three daughters.

14 A nd he called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.

He named the first Jemimah, and the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.

15 A nd in all the land were no women found fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

In all the land no women were found so fair as Job’s daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.

16 A nd Job lived after this a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations.

After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations.

17 A nd Job died, old and full of days.

And Job died, an old man and full of days.
