1 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
The word of the Lord came again to me, saying,
2 S on of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a god, I sit the seat of God, in the heart of the seas, (and thou art a man, and not God,) and thou settest thy heart as the heart of God:
“Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Because your heart is lifted up And you have said, ‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas’; Yet you are a man and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God—
3 b ehold, thou art wiser than Daniel! nothing secret is obscure for thee;
Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; There is no secret that is a match for you.
4 b y thy wisdom and by thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures;
“By your wisdom and understanding You have acquired riches for yourself And have acquired gold and silver for your treasuries.
5 b y thy great wisdom thou hast by thy traffic increased thy riches, and thy heart is lifted up because of thy riches.
“By your great wisdom, by your trade You have increased your riches And your heart is lifted up because of your riches—
6 T herefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast set thy heart as the heart of God,
Therefore thus says the Lord God, ‘Because you have made your heart Like the heart of God,
7 t herefore behold, I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall tarnish thy brightness.
Therefore, behold, I will bring strangers upon you, The most ruthless of the nations. And they will draw their swords Against the beauty of your wisdom And defile your splendor.
8 T hey shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of those that are slain in the heart of the seas.
‘They will bring you down to the pit, And you will die the death of those who are slain In the heart of the seas.
9 W ilt thou then say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and not God, in the hand of him that pierceth thee.
‘Will you still say, “I am a god,” In the presence of your slayer, Though you are a man and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?
10 T hou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised, by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken, saith the Lord Jehovah.
‘You will die the death of the uncircumcised By the hand of strangers, For I have spoken!’ declares the Lord God!”’”
11 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
Again the word of the Lord came to me saying,
12 S on of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou, who sealest up the measure of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty,
“Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 t hou wast in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone was thy covering: the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the chrysolite, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the carbuncle, and the emerald, and gold. The workmanship of thy tambours and of thy pipes was in thee: in the day that thou wast created were they prepared.
“You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you. On the day that you were created They were prepared.
14 T hou wast the anointed covering cherub, and I had set thee: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou didst walk up and down in the midst of stones of fire.
“You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 T hou wast perfect in thy ways, from the day that thou wast created, till unrighteousness was found in thee.
“You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created Until unrighteousness was found in you.
16 B y the abundance of thy traffic they filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned; therefore have I cast thee as profane from the mountain of God, and have destroyed thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
“By the abundance of your trade You were internally filled with violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane From the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of fire.
17 T hy heart was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I have cast thee to the ground, I have laid thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
“Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I put you before kings, That they may see you.
18 B y the multitude of thine iniquities, by the unrighteousness of thy traffic, thou hast profaned thy sanctuaries: and I have brought forth a fire out of the midst of thee—it hath consumed thee; and I have brought thee to ashes upon the earth, in the sight of all them that behold thee.
“By the multitude of your iniquities, In the unrighteousness of your trade You profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; It has consumed you, And I have turned you to ashes on the earth In the eyes of all who see you.
19 A ll they that know thee among the peoples shall be amazed at thee: thou art become a terror, and thou shalt never be any more.
“All who know you among the peoples Are appalled at you; You have become terrified And you will cease to be forever.”’” Judgment of Sidon
20 A nd the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
And the word of the Lord came to me saying,
21 S on of man, set thy face towards Zidon, and prophesy against it,
“Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, prophesy against her
22 a nd say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, Zidon, and I will be glorified in the midst of thee; and they shall know that I Jehovah, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be hallowed in her.
and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, O Sidon, And I will be glorified in your midst. Then they will know that I am the Lord when I execute judgments in her, And I will manifest My holiness in her.
23 A nd I will send into her the pestilence, and blood in her streets; and the wounded shall fall in the midst of her, by the sword upon her on every side: and they shall know that I Jehovah.
“For I will send pestilence to her And blood to her streets, And the wounded will fall in her midst By the sword upon her on every side; Then they will know that I am the Lord.
24 A nd there shall be no more a wounding sting for the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn, among all that were round about them, that despised them: and they shall know that I the Lord Jehovah.
And there will be no more for the house of Israel a prickling brier or a painful thorn from any round about them who scorned them; then they will know that I am the Lord God.” Israel Regathered
25 T hus saith the Lord Jehovah: When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and shall be hallowed in them in the sight of the nations, then shall they dwell in their land which I have given to my servant Jacob.
‘Thus says the Lord God, “When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and will manifest My holiness in them in the sight of the nations, then they will live in their land which I gave to My servant Jacob.
26 T hey shall dwell in it in safety, and shall build houses and plant vineyards; and they shall dwell in safety, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despised them round about them: and they shall know that I Jehovah their God.
They will live in it securely; and they will build houses, plant vineyards and live securely when I execute judgments upon all who scorn them round about them. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.”’”
