1 A nd I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.

Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 T hen said I, Where are you going? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length.

So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”

3 A nd behold, the angel who talked with me went forth and another angel went out to meet him,

And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him,

4 A nd he said to the second angel, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited and dwell as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it.

who said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.

5 F or I, says the Lord, will be to her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.

For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’” Future Joy of Zion and Many Nations

6 H o! ho! flee from the land of the north, says the Lord, and from the four winds of the heavens, for to them have I scattered you, says the Lord.

“Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord.

7 H o! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon!

“Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.”

8 F or thus said the Lord of hosts, after glory had sent me to the nations who plundered you—for he who touches you touches the apple or pupil of His eye:

For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

9 B ehold, I will swing my hand over them and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you shall know (recognize and understand) that the Lord of hosts has sent me.

For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.

10 S ing and rejoice, O Daughter of Zion; for behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the Lord.

“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord.

11 A nd many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day and shall be My people. And I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know (recognize and understand) that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

“Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.

12 A nd the Lord shall inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land and shall again choose Jerusalem.

And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

13 B e still, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused and risen from His holy habitation.

Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!”
