1 U nto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
I lift up my soul to You, O Lord.
2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
O my God, I trust in You. Do not let me be ashamed. Do not let those who fight against me win.
3 Y ea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
Yes, let no one who hopes in You be put to shame. But put to shame those who hurt others without a reason.
4 S hew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
Show me Your ways, O Lord. Teach me Your paths.
5 L ead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me. For You are the God Who saves me. I wait for You all day long.
6 R emember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Remember Your loving-pity and Your loving-kindness, O Lord. For they have been from old.
7 R emember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.
Do not remember my sins from when I was young, or my sinful ways. By Your loving-kindness remember me for You are good, O Lord.
8 G ood and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
Good and right is the Lord. So He teaches sinners in His ways.
9 T he meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
He leads those without pride into what is right, and teaches them His way.
10 A ll the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
All the paths of the Lord are loving and true for those who keep His agreement and keep His Laws.
11 F or thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
For the good of Your name, O Lord, forgive my sin, even as big as it is.
12 W hat man is he that feareth the Lord ? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will teach him in the way he should choose.
13 H is soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
His soul will live a rich life. And his children will be given the land.
14 T he secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him. And He will make them know His agreement.
15 M ine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
My eyes are always on the Lord. For He will take my feet out of the net.
16 T urn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
Turn to me and show me Your loving-kindness. For I am alone and in trouble.
17 T he troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
The troubles of my heart have grown. Bring me out of my suffering.
18 L ook upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
Look upon my troubles and my pain, and forgive all my sins.
19 C onsider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
Look upon those who hate me, for they are many. And how very much they hate me!
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
Keep me safe, Lord, and set me free. Do not let me be put to shame for I put my trust in You.
21 L et integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
Let what is good and what is right keep me safe, because I wait for You.
22 R edeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.
O God, make Israel free from all their troubles.
