1 N ot unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

Let honor be given to Your name and not to us, O Lord, not to us. Because You are loving and kind and faithful.

2 W herefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?

Why should the nations say, “Where is their God now?”

3 B ut our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

But our God is in the heavens. He does whatever He wants to do.

4 T heir idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

Their gods are silver and gold, the work of human hands.

5 T hey have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

They have mouths but they cannot speak. They have eyes but they cannot see.

6 t hey have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

They have ears but they cannot hear. They have noses but they cannot smell.

7 t hey have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

They have hands but they cannot feel. They have feet but they cannot walk. They cannot make a sound come out of their mouths.

8 T hey that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

Those who make them and trust them will be like them.

9 O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

O Israel, trust in the Lord. He is their help and safe-covering.

10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord. He is their help and safe-covering.

11 Y e that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord. He is their help and safe-covering.

12 T he Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.

The Lord has remembered us and will make good come to us. He will make good come to the house of Israel. He will make good come to the house of Aaron.

13 H e will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great.

He will make good come to those who fear the Lord, both the small and the great.

14 T he Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

May the Lord make your numbers grow, both you and your children.

15 Y e are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.

May you be given good things by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

16 T he heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

The heavens belong to the Lord. But He has given the earth to the children of men.

17 T he dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

The dead do not praise the Lord. Neither do those who go down into the quiet place.

18 B ut we will bless the Lord from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the Lord.

But we will give honor and thanks to the Lord, now and forever. Praise the Lord!
