1 T hen Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

提 幔 人 以 利 法 回 答 说 ：

2 C an a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

人 岂 能 使 神 有 益 呢 ？ 智 慧 人 但 能 有 益 於 己 。

3 I s it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

你 为 人 公 义 ， 岂 叫 全 能 者 喜 悦 呢 ？ 你 行 为 完 全 ， 岂 能 使 他 得 利 呢 ？

4 W ill he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

岂 是 因 你 敬 畏 他 就 责 备 你 、 审 判 你 麽 ？

5 I s not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?

你 的 罪 恶 岂 不 是 大 麽 ？ 你 的 罪 孽 也 没 有 穷 尽 ；

6 F or thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

因 你 无 故 强 取 弟 兄 的 物 为 当 头 ， 剥 去 贫 寒 人 的 衣 服 。

7 T hou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

困 乏 的 人 ， 你 没 有 给 他 水 喝 ； 饥 饿 的 人 ， 你 没 有 给 他 食 物 。

8 B ut as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

有 能 力 的 人 就 得 地 土 ； 尊 贵 的 人 也 住 在 其 中 。

9 T hou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

你 打 发 寡 妇 空 手 回 去 ， 折 断 孤 儿 的 膀 臂 。

10 T herefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

因 此 ， 有 网 罗 环 绕 你 ， 有 恐 惧 忽 然 使 你 惊 惶 ；

11 o r darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

或 有 黑 暗 蒙 蔽 你 ， 并 有 洪 水 淹 没 你 。

12 I s not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

神 岂 不 是 在 高 天 麽 ？ 你 看 星 宿 何 其 高 呢 ！

13 A nd thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

你 说 ： 神 知 道 甚 麽 ？ 他 岂 能 看 透 幽 暗 施 行 审 判 呢 ？

14 T hick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

密 云 将 他 遮 盖 ， 使 他 不 能 看 见 ； 他 周 游 穹 苍 。

15 H ast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

你 要 依 从 上 古 的 道 麽 ？ 这 道 是 恶 人 所 行 的 。

16 W hich were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:

他 们 未 到 死 期 ， 忽 然 除 灭 ； 根 基 毁 坏 ， 好 像 被 江 河 冲 去 。

17 w hich said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

他 们 向 神 说 ： 离 开 我 们 罢 ！ 又 说 ： 全 能 者 能 把 我 们 怎 麽 样 呢 ？

18 Y et he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

哪 知 神 以 美 物 充 满 他 们 的 房 屋 ； 但 恶 人 所 谋 定 的 离 我 好 远 。

19 T he righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

义 人 看 见 他 们 的 结 局 就 欢 喜 ； 无 辜 的 人 嗤 笑 他 们 ，

20 W hereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

说 ： 那 起 来 攻 击 我 们 的 果 然 被 剪 除 ， 其 馀 的 都 被 火 烧 灭 。

21 A cquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

你 要 认 识 神 ， 就 得 平 安 ； 福 气 也 必 临 到 你 。

22 R eceive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

你 当 领 受 他 口 中 的 教 训 ， 将 他 的 言 语 存 在 心 里 。

23 I f thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

你 若 归 向 全 能 者 ， 从 你 帐 棚 中 远 除 不 义 ， 就 必 得 建 立 。

24 T hen shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

要 将 你 的 珍 宝 丢 在 尘 土 里 ， 将 俄 斐 的 黄 金 丢 在 溪 河 石 头 之 间 ；

25 Y ea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

全 能 者 就 必 为 你 的 珍 宝 ， 作 你 的 宝 银 。

26 F or then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

你 就 要 以 全 能 者 为 喜 乐 ， 向 神 仰 起 脸 来 。

27 T hou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

你 要 祷 告 他 ， 他 就 听 你 ； 你 也 要 还 你 的 愿 。

28 T hou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

你 定 意 要 做 何 事 ， 必 然 给 你 成 就 ； 亮 光 也 必 照 耀 你 的 路 。

29 W hen men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

人 使 你 降 卑 ， 你 仍 可 说 ： 必 得 高 升 ； 谦 卑 的 人 ， 神 必 然 拯 救 。

30 H e shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

人 非 无 辜 ， 神 且 要 搭 救 他 ； 他 因 你 手 中 清 洁 ， 必 蒙 拯 救 。
