1 A nd he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man’s money in his sack’s mouth.

约 瑟 吩 咐 家 宰 说 ： 『 把 粮 食 装 满 这 些 人 的 口 袋 ， 尽 着 他 们 的 驴 所 能 驮 的 ， 又 把 各 人 的 银 子 放 在 各 人 的 口 袋 里 ，

2 A nd put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack’s mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.

并 将 我 的 银 杯 和 那 少 年 人 籴 粮 的 银 子 一 同 装 在 他 的 口 袋 里 。 』 家 宰 就 照 约 瑟 所 说 的 话 行 了 ；

3 A s soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.

天 一 亮 就 打 发 那 些 人 带 着 驴 走 了 。

4 A nd when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?

他 们 出 城 走 了 不 远 ， 约 瑟 对 家 宰 说 ： 『 起 来 ， 追 那 些 人 去 ， 追 上 了 就 对 他 们 说 ： 「 你 们 为 甚 麽 以 恶 报 善 呢 ？

5 I s not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.

这 不 是 我 主 人 饮 酒 的 杯 吗 ？ 岂 不 是 他 占 卜 用 的 吗 ？ 你 们 这 样 行 是 作 恶 了 。 」 』

6 A nd he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words.

家 宰 追 上 他 们 ， 将 这 些 话 对 他 们 说 了 。

7 A nd they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:

他 们 回 答 说 ： 『 我 主 为 甚 麽 说 这 样 的 话 呢 ？ 你 仆 人 断 不 能 作 这 样 的 事 。

8 b ehold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?

你 看 ， 我 们 从 前 在 口 袋 里 所 见 的 银 子 ， 尚 且 从 迦 南 地 带 来 还 你 ， 我 们 怎 能 从 你 主 人 家 里 偷 窃 金 银 呢 ？

9 W ith whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondmen.

你 仆 人 中 无 论 在 谁 那 里 搜 出 来 ， 就 叫 他 死 ， 我 们 也 作 我 主 的 奴 仆 。 』

10 A nd he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.

家 宰 说 ： 『 现 在 就 照 你 们 的 话 行 吧! 在 谁 那 里 搜 出 来 ， 谁 就 作 我 的 奴 仆 ； 其 馀 的 都 没 有 罪 。 』

11 T hen they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.

於 是 他 们 各 人 急 忙 把 口 袋 卸 在 地 下 ， 各 人 打 开 口 袋 。

12 A nd he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

家 宰 就 搜 查 ， 从 年 长 的 起 到 年 幼 的 为 止 ， 那 杯 竟 在 便 雅 悯 的 口 袋 里 搜 出 来 。

13 T hen they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.

他 们 就 撕 裂 衣 服 ， 各 人 把 驮 子 抬 在 驴 上 ， 回 城 去 了 。

14 A nd Judah and his brethren came to Joseph’s house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.

犹 大 和 他 弟 兄 们 来 到 约 瑟 的 屋 中 ， 约 瑟 还 在 那 里 ， 他 们 就 在 他 面 前 俯 伏 於 地 。

15 A nd Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

约 瑟 对 他 们 说 ： 『 你 们 作 的 是 甚 麽 事 呢 ？ 你 们 岂 不 知 像 我 这 样 的 人 必 能 占 卜 吗 ？ 』

16 A nd Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

犹 大 说 ： 『 我 们 对 我 主 说 甚 麽 呢 ？ 还 有 甚 麽 话 可 说 呢 ？ 我 们 怎 能 自 己 表 白 出 来 呢 ？ 神 已 经 查 出 仆 人 的 罪 孽 了 。 我 们 与 那 在 他 手 中 搜 出 杯 来 的 都 是 我 主 的 奴 仆 。

17 A nd he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.

约 瑟 说 ： 『 我 断 不 能 这 样 行! 在 谁 的 手 中 搜 出 杯 来 ， 谁 就 作 我 的 奴 仆 ； 至 於 你 们 ， 可 以 平 平 安 安 地 上 你 们 父 亲 那 里 去 。 』

18 T hen Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord’s ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.

犹 大 挨 近 他 ， 说 ： 『 我 主 啊 ， 求 你 容 仆 人 说 一 句 话 给 我 主 听 ， 不 要 向 仆 人 发 烈 怒 ， 因 为 你 如 同 法 老 一 样 。

19 M y lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?

我 主 曾 问 仆 人 们 说 ： 「 你 们 有 父 亲 有 兄 弟 没 有 ？ 」

20 A nd we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.

我 们 对 我 主 说 ： 「 我 们 有 父 亲 ， 已 经 年 老 ， 还 有 他 老 年 所 生 的 一 个 小 孩 子 。 他 哥 哥 死 了 ， 他 母 亲 只 撇 下 他 一 人 ， 他 父 亲 疼 爱 他 。 」

21 A nd thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.

你 对 仆 人 说 ： 「 把 他 带 到 我 这 里 来 ， 叫 我 亲 眼 看 看 他 。 」

22 A nd we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.

我 们 对 我 主 说 ： 童 子 不 能 离 开 他 父 亲 ， 若 是 离 开 ， 他 父 亲 必 死 。

23 A nd thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.

你 对 仆 人 说 ： 你 们 的 小 兄 弟 若 不 与 你 们 一 同 下 来 ， 你 们 就 不 得 再 见 我 的 面 。

24 A nd it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

我 们 上 到 你 仆 人 ─ 我 们 父 亲 那 里 ， 就 把 我 主 的 话 告 诉 了 他 。

25 A nd our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.

我 们 的 父 亲 说 ： 你 们 再 去 给 我 籴 些 粮 来 。

26 A nd we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us.

我 们 就 说 ： 我 们 不 能 下 去 。 我 们 的 小 兄 弟 若 和 我 们 同 往 ， 我 们 就 可 以 下 去 。 因 为 ， 小 兄 弟 若 不 与 我 们 同 往 ， 我 们 必 不 得 见 那 人 的 面 。

27 A nd thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons:

你 仆 人 ─ 我 父 亲 对 我 们 说 ： 你 们 知 道 我 的 妻 子 给 我 生 了 两 个 儿 子 。

28 a nd the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:

一 个 离 开 我 出 去 了 ； 我 说 他 必 是 被 撕 碎 了 ， 直 到 如 今 我 也 没 有 见 他 。

29 a nd if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

现 在 你 们 又 要 把 这 个 带 去 离 开 我 ， 倘 若 他 遭 害 ， 那 便 是 你 们 使 我 白 发 苍 苍 、 悲 悲 惨 惨 地 下 阴 间 去 了 。

30 N ow therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad’s life;

我 父 亲 的 命 与 这 童 子 的 命 相 连 。 如 今 我 回 到 你 仆 人 ─ 我 父 亲 那 里 ， 若 没 有 童 子 与 我 们 同 在 ，

31 i t shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave.

我 们 的 父 亲 见 没 有 童 子 ， 他 就 必 死 。 这 便 是 我 们 使 你 仆 人 ─ 我 们 的 父 亲 白 发 苍 苍 、 悲 悲 惨 惨 地 下 阴 间 去 了 。

32 F or thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.

因 为 仆 人 曾 向 我 父 亲 为 这 童 子 作 保 ， 说 ： 我 若 不 带 他 回 来 交 给 父 亲 ， 我 便 在 父 亲 面 前 永 远 担 罪 。

33 N ow therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

现 在 求 你 容 仆 人 住 下 ， 替 这 童 子 作 我 主 的 奴 仆 ， 叫 童 子 和 他 哥 哥 们 一 同 上 去 。

34 F or how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.

若 童 子 不 和 我 同 去 ， 我 怎 能 上 去 见 我 父 亲 呢 ？ 恐 怕 我 看 见 灾 祸 临 到 我 父 亲 身 上 。
