1 H ear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

¶ Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

2 H ow long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after the lie? Selah.

3 B ut know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him.

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4 B e angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah

Stand in awe, and sin not; meditate in your heart upon your bed, and desist. Selah.

5 O ffer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the Lord.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

6 T here are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.

¶ There are many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

7 Y ou have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart in the time that their grain and their wine multiplied.

8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

I will both lay me down in peace and sleep: for thou only, O LORD, dost make me to be confident.
