1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

I will sing of the lovingkindness of the Lord forever; To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.

2 F or I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens; in them thou shalt establish thy truth.

For I have said, “ Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness.”

3 I have made a covenant with my chosen; I have sworn unto David my slave, saying,

“I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant,

4 T hy seed will I establish for ever and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.

I will establish your seed forever And build up your throne to all generations.” Selah.

5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonder, O LORD, thy truth also in the congregation of the saints.

The heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

6 F or who in the heavens can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?

For who in the skies is comparable to the Lord ? Who among the sons of the mighty is like the Lord,

7 G od is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints and to be had in reverence of all those that are about him.

A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, And awesome above all those who are around Him?

8 O LORD God of the hosts, who is like unto thee? Strong JAH, compassed about with thy truth.

O Lord God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty Lord ? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

9 T hou dost rule the raging of the sea: when its waves arise, thou dost still them.

You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

10 T hou hast broken Egypt in pieces as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.

You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.

11 T he heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: the world and its fullness, thou didst found.

The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all it contains, You have founded them.

12 T hou hast created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon shall sing in thy name.

The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.

13 T he mighty arm is thine; strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.

You have a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted.

14 T hy throne is composed of righteousness and judgment; mercy and truth go before thy face.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You.

15 Happy are the people that know how to enter into joy; they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O Lord, they walk in the light of Your countenance.

16 I n thy name shall they rejoice each day; and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.

17 F or thou art the glory of their strength, and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.

For You are the glory of their strength, And by Your favor our horn is exalted.

18 F or the LORD is our shield, and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

For our shield belongs to the Lord, And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

19 Then thou didst speak in vision to thy holy one and didst say, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of my people.

Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said, “I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.

20 I have found David my slave; I anointed him with the oil of my holiness,

“I have found David My servant; With My holy oil I have anointed him,

21 w ith whom my hand shall be established; mine arm also shall strengthen him.

With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him.

22 T he enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down.

“The enemy will not deceive him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

23 B ut I will break down his foes before his face and smite those that hate him.

“But I shall crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.

24 B ut my truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

“My faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, And in My name his horn will be exalted.

25 I n the same manner I will set his hand also in the sea and his right hand in the rivers.

“I shall also set his hand on the sea And his right hand on the rivers.

26 H e shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health.

“He will cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.’

27 A lso I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth.

“I also shall make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.

28 I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.

“My lovingkindness I will keep for him forever, And My covenant shall be confirmed to him.

29 I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.

“So I will establish his descendants forever And his throne as the days of heaven.

30 I f his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments,

“If his sons forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments,

31 i f they profane my statutes and do not keep my commandments,

If they violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments,

32 t hen I will visit their rebellion with the rod and their iniquity with stripes.

Then I will punish their transgression with the rod And their iniquity with stripes.

33 N evertheless I will not take my mercy from him, neither will I falsify my truth.

“But I will not break off My lovingkindness from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.

34 I will not profane my covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

“My covenant I will not violate, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.

35 O nce have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

“ Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David.

36 H is seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me.

“His descendants shall endure forever And his throne as the sun before Me.

37 I t shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

“It shall be established forever like the moon, And the witness in the sky is faithful.” Selah.

38 But thou hast cast off and abhorred thine anointed; thou hast been wroth with him.

But You have cast off and rejected, You have been full of wrath against Your anointed.

39 T hou hast made void the covenant of thy slave; thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.

You have spurned the covenant of Your servant; You have profaned his crown in the dust.

40 T hou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.

You have broken down all his walls; You have brought his strongholds to ruin.

41 A ll that pass by the way spoil him; he is a reproach to his neighbours.

All who pass along the way plunder him; He has become a reproach to his neighbors.

42 T hou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.

You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries; You have made all his enemies rejoice.

43 T hou hast also blunted the edge of his sword and hast not made him to stand in the battle.

You also turn back the edge of his sword And have not made him stand in battle.

44 T hou hast made his clarity to cease and cast his throne down to the ground.

You have made his splendor to cease And cast his throne to the ground.

45 T he days of his youth hast thou shortened; thou hast covered him with shame. Selah.

You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah.

46 H ow long, O LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?

How long, O Lord ? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath burn like fire?

47 R emember how short my time is; why hast thou made all men subject to vanity?

Remember what my span of life is; For what vanity You have created all the sons of men!

48 W hat man is he that lives and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of Sheol? Selah.

What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.

49 L ord, where are thy former mercies, which thou didst sware unto David in thy truth?

Where are Your former lovingkindnesses, O Lord, Which You swore to David in Your faithfulness?

50 R emember, Lord, the reproach of thy slaves; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of many peoples,

Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants; How I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many peoples,

51 b ecause thine enemies have dishonoured, O LORD; they have dishonoured the footsteps of thine anointed.

With which Your enemies have reproached, O Lord, With which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed.

52 B lessed be the LORD for ever. Amen and Amen.

Blessed be the Lord forever! Amen and Amen.
