1 ¶ The word of the LORD also came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 S on of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see and do not see; they have ears to hear and do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.
“Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.
3 T herefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for moving and move by day in their sight and thou shalt move from thy place to another place in their sight: they will not see for they are a rebellious house.
Therefore, son of man, prepare for yourself baggage for exile and go into exile by day in their sight; even go into exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand though they are a rebellious house.
4 A nd thou shalt bring forth thy stuff by day in their sight, as stuff for moving; and thou shalt go forth in the evening in their sight, as those that go forth to not return.
Bring your baggage out by day in their sight, as baggage for exile. Then you will go out at evening in their sight, as those going into exile.
5 D ig through the wall in their sight, and leave thereby.
Dig a hole through the wall in their sight and go out through it.
6 I n their sight thou shalt bear it upon thy shoulders and carry it forth in the night; thou shalt cover thy face, and thou shalt not look at the land; for I have set thee for a sign unto the house of Israel.
Load the baggage on your shoulder in their sight and carry it out in the dark. You shall cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have set you as a sign to the house of Israel.”
7 A nd I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for a journey, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the night, and I bore it upon my shoulder in their sight.
I did so, as I had been commanded. By day I brought out my baggage like the baggage of an exile. Then in the evening I dug through the wall with my hands; I went out in the dark and carried the baggage on my shoulder in their sight.
8 A nd in the morning the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the morning the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
9 S on of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou?
“Son of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘ What are you doing?’
10 S ay thou unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel that are among them.
Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem as well as all the house of Israel who are in it.”’
11 S ay, I am your sign: like as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: when they go to another country they shall go in captivity.
Say, ‘I am a sign to you. As I have done, so it will be done to them; they will go into exile, into captivity.’
12 A nd the prince that is among them shall be born upon their shoulders in the night, and they shall go forth; they shall dig through the wall to carry him out thereby; he shall cover his face that he not see the land with his eyes.
The prince who is among them will load his baggage on his shoulder in the dark and go out. They will dig a hole through the wall to bring it out. He will cover his face so that he can not see the land with his eyes.
13 B ut I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will cause him to be taken to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he shall not see it though he shall die there.
I will also spread My net over him, and he will be caught in My snare. And I will bring him to Babylon in the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, though he will die there.
14 A nd I will scatter toward every wind all that were about him to help him and all his companies; and I will draw out the sword after them.
I will scatter to every wind all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops; and I will draw out a sword after them.
15 A nd they shall know that I am the LORD when I shall scatter them among the Gentiles and disperse them in the countries.
So they will know that I am the Lord when I scatter them among the nations and spread them among the countries.
16 B ut I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the Gentiles where they go; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
But I will spare a few of them from the sword, the famine and the pestilence that they may tell all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the Lord.”
17 ¶ And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me saying,
18 S on of man, eat thy bread with quaking and drink thy water with trembling and with anxiety
“Son of man, eat your bread with trembling and drink your water with quivering and anxiety.
19 a nd say unto the people of the land, Thus hath the Lord GOD said regarding the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the land of Israel. They shall eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with terror that her land may be desolate from all that is in it because of the violence of all those that dwell therein.
Then say to the people of the land, ‘Thus says the Lord God concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel, “They will eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with horror, because their land will be stripped of its fullness on account of the violence of all who live in it.
20 A nd the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
The inhabited cities will be laid waste and the land will be a desolation. So you will know that I am the Lord.”’”
21 ¶ And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
22 S on of man, what is that saying that ye have in the land of Israel that saith, The days shall be prolonged, and every vision shall fail?
“Son of man, what is this proverb you people have concerning the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days are long and every vision fails’?
23 T ell them therefore, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: I will make this saying to cease, and they shall not repeat this as a saying in Israel but say unto them, Those days have drawn nigh, and the fulfillment of every vision.
Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “I will make this proverb cease so that they will no longer use it as a proverb in Israel.” But tell them, “ The days draw near as well as the fulfillment of every vision.
24 F or there shall no longer be any vain vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.
For there will no longer be any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.
25 B ecause I, the LORD, will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall no longer be prolonged, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and will perform it, said the Lord GOD.
For I the Lord will speak, and whatever word I speak will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it,” declares the Lord God.’”
26 A gain the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Furthermore, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
27 S on of man, behold, those of the house of Israel say, The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of the times that are far off.
“Son of man, behold, the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees is for many years from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’
28 T herefore say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: All of my words shall not be prolonged any longer, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, said the Lord GOD.
Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed,”’” declares the Lord God.
