1 提 幔 人 以 利 法 回 答 说 ：

Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,

2 人 若 想 与 你 说 话 ， 你 就 厌 烦 麽 ？ 但 谁 能 忍 住 不 说 呢 ？

“If one ventures a word with you, will you become impatient? But who can refrain from speaking?

3 你 素 来 教 导 许 多 的 人 ， 又 坚 固 软 弱 的 手 。

“Behold you have admonished many, And you have strengthened weak hands.

4 你 的 言 语 曾 扶 助 那 将 要 跌 倒 的 人 ； 你 又 使 软 弱 的 膝 稳 固 。

“Your words have helped the tottering to stand, And you have strengthened feeble knees.

5 但 现 在 祸 患 临 到 你 ， 你 就 昏 迷 ， 挨 近 你 ， 你 便 惊 惶 。

“But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; It touches you, and you are dismayed.

6 你 的 倚 靠 不 是 在 你 敬 畏 神 麽 ？ 你 的 盼 望 不 是 在 你 行 事 纯 正 麽 ？

“Is not your fear of God your confidence, And the integrity of your ways your hope?

7 请 你 追 想 ： 无 辜 的 人 有 谁 灭 亡 ？ 正 直 的 人 在 何 处 剪 除 ？

“Remember now, who ever perished being innocent? Or where were the upright destroyed?

8 按 我 所 见 ， 耕 罪 孽 、 种 毒 害 的 人 都 照 样 收 割 。

“According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity And those who sow trouble harvest it.

9 神 一 出 气 ， 他 们 就 灭 亡 ； 神 一 发 怒 ， 他 们 就 消 没 。

“By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of His anger they come to an end.

10 狮 子 的 吼 叫 和 猛 狮 的 声 音 尽 都 止 息 ； 少 壮 狮 子 的 牙 齿 也 都 敲 掉 。

“The roaring of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.

11 老 狮 子 因 绝 食 而 死 ； 母 狮 之 子 也 都 离 散 。

“The lion perishes for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered.

12 我 暗 暗 地 得 了 默 示 ； 我 耳 朵 也 听 其 细 微 的 声 音 。

“Now a word was brought to me stealthily, And my ear received a whisper of it.

13 在 思 念 夜 中 、 异 象 之 间 ， 世 人 沉 睡 的 时 候 ，

“Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falls on men,

14 恐 惧 、 战 兢 临 到 我 身 ， 使 我 百 骨 打 战 。

Dread came upon me, and trembling, And made all my bones shake.

15 有 灵 从 我 面 前 经 过 ， 我 身 上 的 毫 毛 直 立 。

“Then a spirit passed by my face; The hair of my flesh bristled up.

16 那 灵 停 住 ， 我 却 不 能 辨 其 形 状 ； 有 影 像 在 我 眼 前 。 我 在 静 默 中 听 见 有 声 音 说 ：

“It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance; A form was before my eyes; There was silence, then I heard a voice:

17 必 死 的 人 岂 能 比 神 公 义 麽 ？ 人 岂 能 比 造 他 的 主 洁 净 麽 ？

‘Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker?

18 主 不 信 靠 他 的 臣 仆 ， 并 且 指 他 的 使 者 为 愚 昧 ；

‘ He puts no trust even in His servants; And against His angels He charges error.

19 何 况 那 住 在 土 房 、 根 基 在 尘 土 里 、 被 蠹 虫 所 毁 坏 的 人 呢 ？

‘How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!

20 早 晚 之 间 ， 就 被 毁 灭 ， 永 归 无 有 ， 无 人 理 会 。

‘ Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces; Unobserved, they perish forever.

21 他 帐 棚 的 绳 索 岂 不 从 中 抽 出 来 呢 ？ 他 死 ， 且 是 无 智 慧 而 死 。

‘Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, yet without wisdom.’
