1 A nd when he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.
2 A nd behold, there came to him a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
3 A nd he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightway his leprosy was cleansed.
Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 A nd Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
And Jesus said to him, “ See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
5 A nd when he was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him,
6 a nd saying, Lord, my servant lieth in the house sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
and saying, “ Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented.”
7 A nd he saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 A nd the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
But the centurion said, “ Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 F or I also am a man under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”
10 A nd when Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel.
11 A nd I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:
I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;
12 b ut the sons of the kingdom shall be cast forth into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 A nd Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And the servant was healed in that hour.
And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed that very moment. Peter’s Mother-in-law and Many Others Healed
14 A nd when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever.
When Jesus came into Peter’s home, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever.
15 A nd he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she arose, and ministered unto him.
He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him.
16 A nd when even was come, they brought unto him many possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick:
When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.
17 t hat it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases.
This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “ He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases.” Discipleship Tested
18 N ow when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandments to depart unto the other side.
Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea.
19 A nd there came a scribe, and said unto him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
Then a scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
20 A nd Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
21 A nd another of the disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
22 B ut Jesus saith unto him, Follow me; and leave the dead to bury their own dead.
But Jesus said to him, “ Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead.”
23 A nd when he was entered into a boat, his disciples followed him.
When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.
24 A nd behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep.
25 A nd they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Save, Lord; we perish.
And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “ Save us, Lord; we are perishing!”
26 A nd he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm.
27 A nd the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?
The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Jesus Casts Out Demons
28 A nd when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way.
When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.
29 A nd behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
And they cried out, saying, “ What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
30 N ow there was afar off from them a herd of many swine feeding.
Now there was a herd of many swine feeding at a distance from them.
31 A nd the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.
The demons began to entreat Him, saying, “If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.”
32 A nd he said unto them, Go. And they came out, and went into the swine: and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep into the sea, and perished in the waters.
And He said to them, “Go!” And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters.
33 A nd they that fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what was befallen to them that were possessed with demons.
The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the demoniacs.
34 A nd behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart from their borders.
And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region.
