1 F or the courses of the doorkeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

For the divisions of the gatekeepers there were of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

2 A nd Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the first-born, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

3 E lam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

Elam the fifth, Johanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

4 A nd Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the first-born, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethanel the fifth,

Obed-edom had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,

5 A mmiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth; for God blessed him.

Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh and Peullethai the eighth; God had indeed blessed him.

6 A lso unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled over the house of their father; for they were mighty men of valor.

Also to his son Shemaiah sons were born who ruled over the house of their father, for they were mighty men of valor.

7 T he sons of Shemaiah: Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brethren were valiant men, Elihu, and Semachiah.

The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad, whose brothers, Elihu and Semachiah, were valiant men.

8 A ll these were of the sons of Obed-edom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men in strength for the service; threescore and two of Obed-edom.

All these were of the sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and their relatives were able men with strength for the service, 62 from Obed-edom.

9 A nd Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, valiant men, eighteen.

Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, 18 valiant men.

10 A lso Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief, (for though he was not the first-born, yet his father made him chief),

Also Hosah, one of the sons of Merari had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father made him first),

11 H ilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.

Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and relatives of Hosah were 13.

12 O f these were the courses of the doorkeepers, even of the chief men, having offices like their brethren, to minister in the house of Jehovah.

To these divisions of the gatekeepers, the chief men, were given duties like their relatives to minister in the house of the Lord.

13 A nd they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to their fathers' houses, for every gate.

They cast lots, the small and the great alike, according to their fathers’ households, for every gate.

14 A nd the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a discreet counsellor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.

The lot to the east fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a counselor with insight, and his lot came out to the north.

15 T o Obed-edom southward; and to his sons the store-house.

For Obed-edom it fell to the south, and to his sons went the storehouse.

16 T o Shuppim and Hosah westward, by the gate of Shallecheth, at the causeway that goeth up, watch against watch.

For Shuppim and Hosah it was to the west, by the gate of Shallecheth, on the ascending highway. Guard corresponded to guard.

17 E astward were six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and for the store-house two and two.

On the east there were six Levites, on the north four daily, on the south four daily, and at the storehouse two by two.

18 F or Parbar westward, four at the causeway, and two at Parbar.

At the Parbar on the west there were four at the highway and two at the Parbar.

19 T hese were the courses of the doorkeepers; of the sons of the Korahites, and of the sons of Merari.

These were the divisions of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and of the sons of Merari. Keepers of the Treasure

20 A nd of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.

The Levites, their relatives, had charge of the treasures of the house of God and of the treasures of the dedicated gifts.

21 T he sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, the heads of the fathers' houses belonging to Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli.

The sons of Ladan, the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan, namely, the Jehielites, were the heads of the fathers’ households, belonging to Ladan the Gershonite.

22 T he sons of Jehieli: Zetham, and Joel his brother, over the treasures of the house of Jehovah.

The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, had charge of the treasures of the house of the Lord.

23 O f the Amramites, of the Izharites, of the Hebronites, of the Uzzielites:

As for the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites and the Uzzielites,

24 a nd Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler over the treasures.

Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was officer over the treasures.

25 A nd his brethren: of Eliezer came Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.

His relatives by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son and Shelomoth his son.

26 T his Shelomoth and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the heads of the fathers' houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated.

This Shelomoth and his relatives had charge of all the treasures of the dedicated gifts which King David and the heads of the fathers’ households, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the commanders of the army, had dedicated.

27 O ut of the spoil won in battles did they dedicate to repair the house of Jehovah.

They dedicated part of the spoil won in battles to repair the house of the Lord.

28 A nd all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated, whosoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomoth, and of his brethren.

And all that Samuel the seer had dedicated and Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah, everyone who had dedicated anything, all of this was in the care of Shelomoth and his relatives. Outside Duties

29 O f the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.

As for the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were assigned to outside duties for Israel, as officers and judges.

30 O f the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valor, a thousand and seven hundred, had the oversight of Israel beyond the Jordan westward, for all the business of Jehovah, and for the service of the king.

As for the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1, 700 capable men, had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the Lord and the service of the king.

31 O f the Hebronites was Jerijah the chief, even of the Hebronites, according to their generations by fathers' houses. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valor at Jazer of Gilead.

As for the Hebronites, Jerijah the chief (these Hebronites were investigated according to their genealogies and fathers’ households, in the fortieth year of David’s reign, and men of outstanding capability were found among them at Jazer of Gilead)

32 A nd his brethren, men of valor, were two thousand and seven hundred, heads of fathers' houses, whom king David made overseers over the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites, for every matter pertaining to God, and for the affairs of the king.

and his relatives, capable men, were 2, 700 in number, heads of fathers’ households. And King David made them overseers of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites concerning all the affairs of God and of the king.
