1 T he fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none that doeth good.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God,” They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good.

2 G od looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God.

God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God.

3 E very one of them is gone back; they are together become filthy; There is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.

4 H ave the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon God?

Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge, Who eat up My people as though they ate bread And have not called upon God?

5 T here were they in great fear, where no fear was; For God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: Thou hast put them to shame, because of God hath rejected them.

There they were in great fear where no fear had been; For God scattered the bones of him who encamped against you; You put them to shame, because God had rejected them.

6 O h that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores His captive people, Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
