1 A nd David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

And David said, Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul to whom I may show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

2 A nd there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him unto David; and the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.

And of the house of Saul there was a servant whose name was Ziba. When they had called him to David, he said to him, Are you Ziba? He said, I, your servant, am he.

3 A nd the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, who is lame of his feet.

The king said, Is there not still someone of the house of Saul to whom I may show the mercy and kindness of God? Ziba replied, Jonathan has yet a son who is lame in his feet.

4 A nd the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar.

And the king said, Where is he? Ziba replied, He is in the house of Machir son of Ammiel in Lo-debar.

5 T hen king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.

Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir son of Ammiel at Lo-debar.

6 A nd Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came unto David, and fell on his face, and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold, thy servant!

And Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and did obeisance. David said, Mephibosheth! And he answered, Behold your servant!

7 A nd David said unto him, Fear not; for I will surely show thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

David said to him, Fear not, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always.

8 A nd he did obeisance, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

And bowed himself and said, What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I am?

9 T hen the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, All that pertained to Saul and to all his house have I given unto thy master's son.

Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, I have given your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house.

10 A nd thou shalt till the land for him, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants; and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have bread to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

And you shall till the land for him, you, your sons, and your servants, and you shall bring in the produce, that your master’s heir may have food to eat; but Mephibosheth, your master’s son, shall eat always at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

11 T hen said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.

Then Ziba said to the king, Your servant will do according to all my lord the king commands. So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table as one of the king’s sons.

12 A nd Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.

Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Micha. And all who dwelt in Ziba’s house were servants to Mephibosheth.

13 S o Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he did eat continually at the king's table. And he was lame in both his feet.

So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table, he was lame in both feet.
