1 M y God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Se cîntă ca,, cerboaica zorilor``. Un psalm al lui David.) Dumnezeule! Dumnezeule! Pentruce m'ai părăsit, şi pentruce Te depărtezi fără să-mi ajuţi şi fără s'asculţi plîngerile mele?

2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Strig ziua, Dumnezeule, şi nu-mi răspunzi: strig şi noaptea, şi tot n'am odihnă.

3 B ut thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Totuş Tu eşti Cel Sfînt, şi Tu locuieşti în mijlocul laudelor lui Israel.

4 O ur fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

În Tine se încredeau părinţii noştri: se încredeau, şi -i izbăveai.

5 T hey cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

Strigau către Tine, şi erau scăpaţi; se încredeau în Tine, şi nu rămîneau de ruşine.

6 B ut I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Dar eu sînt vierme, nu om, am ajuns de ocara oamenilor şi dispreţuit de popor.

7 A ll they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

Toţi ceice mă văd îşi bat joc de mine, îşi deschid gura, dau din cap şi zic:

8 H e trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

S'a încrezut în Domnul! Să -l mîntuiască Domnul, să -l izbăvească, fiindcă -l iubeşte!`` -

9 B ut thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.

Da, Tu m'ai scos din pîntecele mamei, m'ai pus la adăpost de orice grijă la ţîţele mamei mele;

10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.

de cînd eram la sînul mamei, am fost supt paza Ta, din pîntecele mamei ai fost Dumnezeul meu.

11 B e not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

Nu Te depărta de mine, căci s'apropie necazul, şi nimeni nu-mi vine în ajutor.

12 M any bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

O mulţime de tauri sînt împrejurul meu, nişte tauri din Basan mă înconjoară.

13 T hey gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

Îşi deschid gura împotriva mea, ca un leu, care sfîşie şi răcneşte.

14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

Am ajuns ca apa, care se scurge, şi toate oasele mi se despart; mi s'a făcut inima ca ceara, şi se topeşte înlăuntrul meu.

15 M y strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Mi se usucă puterea ca lutul, şi mi se lipeşte limba de cerul gurii: m'ai adus în ţărîna morţii.

16 F or dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Căci nişte cîni mă înconjoară, o ceată de nelegiuiţi dau tîrcoale împrejurul meu, mi-au străpuns mînile şi picioarele:

17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

toate oasele aş putea să mi le număr. Ei, însă, pîndesc şi mă privesc;

18 T hey part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

îşi împart hainele mele între ei, şi trag la sorţ pentru cămaşa mea.

19 B ut be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

Dar Tu, Doamne, nu Te depărta! Tu, Tăria mea, vino de grabă în ajutorul meu!

20 D eliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

Scapă-mi sufletul de sabie, şi viaţa din ghiarele cînilor!

21 S ave me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

Scapă-mă din gura leului, şi scoate-mă din coarnele bivolului!

22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

Voi vesti Numele Tău fraţilor mei, şi Te voi lăuda în mijlocul adunării.

23 Y e that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

Cei ce vă temeţi de Domnul, lăudaţi -L! Voi toţi, sămînţa lui Iacov, slăviţi -L! Cutremuraţi-vă înaintea Lui, voi toţi, sămînţa lui Israel!

24 F or he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

Căci El nici nu dispreţuieşte, nici nu urăşte necazurile celui nenorocit, şi nu-Şi ascunde Faţa de el, ci îl ascultă cînd strigă către El.

25 M y praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

În adunarea cea mare, Tu vei fi pricina laudelor mele: şi-mi voi împlini juruinţele în faţa celor ce se tem de Tine.

26 T he meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

Cei săraci vor mînca şi se vor sătura, ceice caută pe Domnul, Îl vor lăuda: veselă să vă fie inima pe vecie!

27 A ll the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

Toate marginile pămîntului îşi vor aduce aminte şi se vor întoarce la Domnul: toate familiile neamurilor se vor închina înaintea Ta.

28 F or the kingdom is the Lord’s: and he is the governor among the nations.

Căci a Domnului este împărăţia: El stăpîneşte peste neamuri.

29 A ll they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

Toţi cei puternici de pe pămînt vor mînca şi se vor închina şi ei; înaintea Lui se vor pleca toţi ceice se pogoară în ţărînă, ceice nu pot să-şi păstreze viaţa.

30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

O sămînţă de oameni li va sluji; şi se va vorbi despre Domnul către ceice vor veni după ei.

31 T hey shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Aceştia vor veni şi vor vesti dreptatea Lui, vor vesti lucrarea Lui poporului care se va naşte.
