1 L ikewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

Tot astfel, nevestelor, fiti supuse si voi barbatilor vostri; pentru ca, daca unii nu asculta Cuvintul, sa fie cistigati fara cuvint, prin purtarea nevestelor lor,

2 w hile they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

cind va vor vedea felul vostru de trai: curat si in temere.

3 W hose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

Podoaba voastra sa nu fie podoaba de afara, care sta in impletitura parului, in purtarea de scule de aur sau in imbracarea hainelor,

4 b ut let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

ci sa fie omul ascuns al inimii, in curatia nepieritoare a unui duh blind si linistit, care este de mare pret inaintea lui Dumnezeu.

5 F or after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Astfel se impodobeau odinioara sfintele femei, care nadajduiau in Dumnezeu, si erau supuse barbatilor lor;

6 e ven as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

ca Sara, care asculta pe Avraam si-l numea "domnul ei." Fiicele ei v-ati facut voi, daca faceti binele fara sa va temeti de ceva.

7 L ikewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Barbatilor, purtati-va si voi, la rindul vostru, cu intelepciune cu nevestele voastre, dind cinste femeii ca unui vas mai slab, ca unele care vor mosteni impreuna cu voi harul vietii, ca sa nu fie impiedicate rugaciunile voastre.

8 F inally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Incolo, toti sa fiti cu aceleasi ginduri, simtind cu altii, iubind ca fratii, milosi, smeriti.

9 n ot rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Nu intoarceti rau pentru rau, nici ocara pentru ocara, dimpotriva, binecuvintati, caci la aceasta ati fost chemati: sa mosteniti binecuvintarea.

10 F or he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

"Caci cine iubeste viata, si vrea sa vada zile bune, sa-si infrineze limba de la rau, si buzele de la cuvinte inselatoare.

11 l et him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Sa se departeze de rau si sa faca binele, sa caute pacea, si s-o urmareasca.

12 F or the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Caci ochii Domnului sunt peste cei neprihaniti, si urechile Lui iau aminte la rugaciunile lor. Dar Fata Domnului este impotriva celor ce fac raul."

13 A nd who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

Si cine va va face rau, daca sunteti plini de rivna pentru bine?

14 B ut and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

Chiar daca aveti de suferit pentru neprihanire, ferice de voi! "N-aveti nici o teama de ei, si nu va tulburati!

15 b ut sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Ci sfintiti in inimile voastre pe Hristos ca Domn." Fiti totdeauna gata sa raspundeti oricui va cere socoteala de nadejdea care este in voi; dar cu blindete si teama,

16 h aving a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

avind un cuget curat, pentru ca cei ce birfesc purtarea voastra buna in Hristos, sa ramina de rusine tocmai in lucrurile in care va vorbesc de rau.

17 F or it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

Caci este mai bine, daca asa este voia lui Dumnezeu, sa suferiti pentru ca faceti binele, decit pentru ca faceti raul.

18 F or Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Hristos, de asemenea, a suferit o data pentru pacate, El, Cel neprihanit, pentru cei nelegiuiti, ca sa ne aduca la Dumnezeu. El a fost omorit in trup, dar a fost inviat in duh,

19 b y which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

in care S-a dus sa propovaduiasca duhurilor din inchisoare,

20 w hich sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

care fusesera razvratite odinioara, cind indelunga rabdare a lui Dumnezeu era in asteptare, in zilele lui Noe, cind se facea corabia, in care au fost scapate prin apa un mic numar de suflete, si anume opt.

21 T he like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Icoana aceasta inchipuitoare va mintuieste acum pe voi, si anume botezul, care nu este o curatire de intinaciunile trupesti, ci marturia unui cuget curat inaintea lui Dumnezeu prin invierea lui Isus Hristos,

22 w ho is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

care sta la dreapta lui Dumnezeu, dupa ce S-a inaltat la cer, si Si-a supus ingerii, stapinirile si puterile.
