1 C omo aguas que se reparten es el corazón del rey en la mano de Jehová: él lo inclina hacia todo lo que quiere.

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

2 T odo camino del hombre es recto en su propia opinión, pero Jehová pesa los corazones.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

3 H acer justicia y juicio es para Jehová más agradable que el sacrificio.

To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

4 L os ojos altivos, el corazón orgulloso y el pensamiento de los malvados, todo es pecado.

An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

5 L os planes del diligente ciertamente tienden a la abundancia, y ciertamente va a la pobreza todo el que alocadamente se apresura.

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

6 A montonar tesoros por medio de la mentira es fugaz ilusión de aquellos que buscan la muerte.

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

7 L a rapiña de los malvados los destruirá, por cuanto no quisieron actuar conforme a derecho.

The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

8 E l camino del hombre perverso es torcido y extraño, pero los hechos del que es puro son rectos.

The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

9 M ejor es vivir en un rincón del terrado que en casa espaciosa con mujer pendenciera.

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

10 E l alma del malvado desea el mal; su prójimo no halla favor en sus ojos.

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

11 C uando el escarnecedor es castigado, el simple se hace sabio; cuando se amonesta al sabio, aprende ciencia.

When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

12 O bserva el justo la casa del malvado, cómo los malvados son trastornados por el mal.

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

13 E l que cierra su oído al clamor del pobre tampoco será oído cuando clame.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

14 L a dádiva en secreto calma el enojo; el regalo discreto, la fuerte ira.

A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

15 A legría es para el justo practicar la justicia, pero un desastre para los que cometen iniquidad.

It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

16 E l hombre que se aparta del camino de la sabiduría vendrá a parar en la compañía de los muertos.

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

17 C aerá en la pobreza el hombre que ama los placeres; y el que ama el vino y los perfumes no se enriquecerá.

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

18 R escate por el justo será el malvado, y por los rectos, el prevaricador.

The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

19 M ejor es vivir en tierra desierta que con la mujer pendenciera e irascible.

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

20 T esoro preciado y aceite hay en la casa del sabio, pero el hombre insensato todo lo disipa.

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

21 E l que sigue la justicia y la misericordia hallará la vida, la justicia y el honor.

He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22 T omó el sabio la ciudad de los fuertes y derribó la fuerza en que ella confiaba.

A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23 E l que guarda su boca y su lengua, su vida guarda de angustias.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

24 E scarnecedor es el nombre del soberbio y presuntuoso que actúa con la insolencia de su presunción.

Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

25 E l deseo del perezoso lo mata, porque sus manos no quieren trabajar.

The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

26 E l codicioso codicia todo el día; el justo da sin retener su mano.

He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

27 E l sacrificio de los malvados es abominable, ¡tanto más ofreciéndolo con maldad!

The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

28 E l testigo falso perecerá, pero el hombre que escucha, siempre podrá responder.

A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

29 E l hombre malvado endurece su rostro, pero el recto ordena sus caminos.

A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

30 N o hay sabiduría ni inteligencia ni consejo contra Jehová.

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.

31 E l caballo se apareja para el día de la batalla, pero Jehová es quien da la victoria.

The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.
