1 A conteció después de la muerte de Moisés, siervo de Jehová, que Jehová habló a Josué hijo de Nun, servidor de Moisés, y le dijo:

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 « Mi siervo Moisés ha muerto. Ahora, pues, levántate y pasa este Jordán, tú y todo este pueblo, hacia la tierra que yo les doy a los hijos de Israel.

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Y o os he entregado, tal como lo dije a Moisés, todos los lugares que pisen las plantas de vuestros pies.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

4 D esde el desierto y el Líbano hasta el gran río Éufrates, toda la tierra de los heteos hasta el Mar Grande donde se pone el sol, será vuestro territorio.

From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 N adie podrá hacerte frente en todos los días de tu vida: como estuve con Moisés, estaré contigo; no te dejaré ni te desampararé.

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 E sfuérzate y sé valiente, porque tú repartirás a este pueblo como heredad la tierra que juré dar a sus padres.

Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 S olamente esfuérzate y sé muy valiente, cuidando de obrar conforme a toda la Ley que mi siervo Moisés te mandó; no te apartes de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, para que seas prosperado en todas las cosas que emprendas.

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

8 N unca se apartará de tu boca este libro de la Ley, sino que de día y de noche meditarás en él, para que guardes y hagas conforme a todo lo que está escrito en él, porque entonces harás prosperar tu camino y todo te saldrá bien.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 M ira que te mando que te esfuerces y seas valiente; no temas ni desmayes, porque Jehová, tu Dios, estará contigo dondequiera que vayas.»

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

10 E ntonces Josué dio esta orden a los oficiales del pueblo:

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 « Id por el campamento y dad esta orden al pueblo: “Preparaos comida, porque dentro de tres días pasaréis el Jordán para entrar a poseer la tierra que Jehová, vuestro Dios, os da en posesión.”»

Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it.

12 T ambién habló Josué a los rubenitas y gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés, y les dijo:

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

13 — Acordaos de lo que os mandó Moisés, siervo de Jehová, cuando dijo: “Jehová, vuestro Dios, os ha dado reposo, y os ha dado esta tierra.

Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

14 V uestras mujeres, vuestros niños y vuestros ganados quedarán en la tierra que Moisés os ha dado a este lado del Jordán; pero vosotros, todos los valientes y fuertes, pasaréis armados delante de vuestros hermanos, y los ayudaréis

Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

15 h asta tanto Jehová les haya dado reposo igual que a vosotros, y ellos también posean la tierra que Jehová, vuestro Dios, les da. Después volveréis a la tierra de vuestra herencia, la cual Moisés, siervo de Jehová, os ha dado a este lado del Jordán, hacia donde nace el sol, y entraréis en posesión de ella.”

until the Lord have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord’s servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

16 E ntonces ellos respondieron a Josué: —Nosotros haremos todas las cosas que nos has mandado, e iremos adondequiera que nos mandes.

And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

17 D e la manera que obedecimos a Moisés en todas las cosas, así te obedeceremos a ti; solamente que Jehová, tu Dios, esté contigo, como estuvo con Moisés.

According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

18 C ualquiera que sea rebelde a tu mandamiento y no obedezca tus órdenes en todas las cosas que le mandes, que muera. Tú, solamente esfuérzate y sé valiente.

Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
