1 C oncerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

For the divisions of the gatekeepers: Of the Korahites was: Meshelemiah son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

2 A nd the sons of Meshelemiah were Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

And Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

3 E lam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

6 A lso to Shemaiah his son were sons born who governed their fathers’ houses, because they were men of great ability.

7 T he sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah were able men.

The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brethren were strong and able men, Elihu and Semachiah.

8 A ll these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, able men with strength for the work: sixty-two of Obed-Edom.

All these were sons of Obed-edom, with their sons and brethren, strong and able men for the service—sixty-two in all.

9 A nd Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen able men.

10 A lso Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Shimri the first (for though he was not the firstborn, his father made him the first),

11 H ilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.

12 A mong these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having duties just like their brethren, to serve in the house of the Lord.

13 A nd they cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father’s house.

And they cast lots by fathers’ houses, small and great alike, for every gate.

14 T he lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the North Gate;

15 t o Obed-Edom the South Gate, and to his sons the storehouse.

To Obed-edom it came out for the south, and to his sons the storehouse was allotted.

16 T o Shuppim and Hosah the lot came out for the West Gate, with the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway—watchman opposite watchman.

To Shuppim and Hosah the lot fell for the west, by the refuse gate that goes into the ascending highway, post opposite post.

17 O n the east were six Levites, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, and for the storehouse two by two.

18 A s for the Parbar on the west, there were four on the highway and two at the Parbar.

19 T hese were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and among the sons of Merari. The Treasuries and Other Duties

These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the Korahites and the sons of Merari.

20 O f the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the dedicated things.

24 S hebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasuries.

25 A nd his brethren by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.

His brethren from Eliezer were his son Rehabiah, his son Jeshaiah, his son Joram, his son Zichri, and his son Shelomoth.

26 T his Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasuries of the dedicated things which King David and the heads of fathers’ houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated.

27 S ome of the spoils won in battles they dedicated to maintain the house of the Lord.

28 A nd all that Samuel the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, every dedicated thing, was under the hand of Shelomith and his brethren.

Also all that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, and whatever anyone had dedicated, it was in the charge of Shelomoth and his brethren.

29 O f the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons performed duties as officials and judges over Israel outside Jerusalem.

Of the Izharites: Chenaniah and his sons were appointed to outside duties for Israel, as officers and judges.

30 O f the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, one thousand seven hundred able men, had the oversight of Israel on the west side of the Jordan for all the business of the Lord, and in the service of the king.

Of the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his brethren, men of courage and ability, 1, 700 in all, were officers over Israel on the west side of the Jordan in all the Lord’s business and the king’s service.

31 A mong the Hebronites, Jerijah was head of the Hebronites according to his genealogy of the fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought, and there were found among them capable men at Jazer of Gilead.

Of the Hebronites: Jerijah was the chief, according to their generations by fathers’ houses. In the fortieth year of David’s reign a search was made, and men of great courage and ability were found among them at Jazer in Gilead.

32 A nd his brethren were two thousand seven hundred able men, heads of fathers’ houses, whom King David made officials over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God and the affairs of the king.

Jerijah’s kinsmen, men of courage and ability, were 2, 700 heads of fathers’ houses; King David made them overseers of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for everything pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.
