1 م ا أحلَى أنْ يَستَمِعَ اللهُ إلَى صَوتِي حِينَ أُصَلِّي إلَيهِ.

I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

2 ل أنَّهُ أمالَ أُذُنَيهِ إلَيَّ، لِذَلِكَ سَادْعُوهُ طَوالَ حَياتِي.

Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3 ع َلَى بابِ المَوتِ كُنتُ، وَأمسَكَتْ بِي أوجاعُ الهاوِيَةِ. الأسَى وَالضِّيقُ غَمَرانِي.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

4 د َعَوتُ باسمِ اللهِ وَقُلْتُ: «خَلِّصْ يا اللهُ حَياتِي.»

Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5 ا للهُ رَحِيمٌ وَبارٌّ. إلَهُنا حَنّانٌ،

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

6 ا للهُ يَرعَى البُسَطاءَ. إذْ حِينَ كُنتُ عاجِزاً خَلَّصَنِي.

The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

7 ع ُودِي إلَى راحَةِ بالِكِ، يا نَفسِي. فَاللهُ سَيَهتَمُّ بِكِ.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 م ِنْ فَمِ المَوتِ انتَزَعْتَ حَياتِي. مِنَ الدُّمُوعِ خَلَّصْتَ عَينَيَّ، وَقَدَمَيَّ مِنَ السُّقُوطِ.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9 أ َخدِمُ اللهَ ما دُمتُ فِي أرْضِ الأحياءِ.

I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

10 ح َفِظْتُ إيمانِي حَتَّى حِينَ تَكَلَّمْتُ وَقُلْتُ: «قَدْ تَحَطَّمْتُ جِدّاً.»

I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

11 و َفِي اضطِرابِي وَإحباطِي قُلْتُ: «كُلُّ البَشَرِ كاذِبُونَ.»

I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 ف َماذا بِوِسعِيَ أنْ أُعطِيَ اللهَ الَّذِي أعطانِي كُلَّ ما أملُكُ؟

What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?

13 ا للهُ خَلَّصَنِي، لِذا سَأرفَعُ تَقدِمَةَ سَكِيبٍ وَأدعُو بِاسْمِ اللهِ.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

14 ل لهِ سَأُوفِي نُذُورِي أمامَ كُلِّ شَعبِهِ.

I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

15 ث َمِينٌ لَدَى اللهِ دائِماً مَوْتُ أحَدِ أتباعِهِ الأُمَناءِ.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

16 ي ا اللهُ أرجُوكَ، عَبدٌ مِنْ عَبِيدِكَ أنا، عَبدٌ مِنْ عَبِيدِكَ، ابنُ إحدَى إمائِكَ. وَأنتَ مِنْ قُيُودِي حَرَّرْتَنِي.

O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 إ لَيكَ أنتَ يا اللهُ أُقَدِّمُ تَقدِماتِ الحَمدِ، وَأدعُو باسمِكَ حِينَ أدعُو.

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 ل لهِ سَأُوفِي نَذُورِي أمامَ كُلِّ شَعبِهِ.

I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.

19 س َبِّحُوا اللهَ فِي ساحَةِ هَيكَلِهِ فِي وَسَطِكِ يا قُدْسُ. هَلِّلُويا.

In the courts of the Lord 's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.
