1 ل ا تَرفُضُوا الضُّعَفاءَ فِي بَعضِ مُعْتَقَداتِهِمْ، وَلا تُجادِلُوهُمْ حَولَ تِلكَ الآراءِ المُختَلِفَةِ.

Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2 ف َهُناكَ مَنْ يُؤمِنُ بِأنَّهُ مَسمُوحٌ لَهُ بِأنْ يَأْكُلَ أيَّ شَيءٍ، أمّا مَنْ لا يُؤمِنُ بِذَلِكَ فَلا يَأكُلُ إلّا الخَضراواتِ.

For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 ف َلا يَنبَغي عَلَى مَنْ يَأكُلُ جَمِيعَ أنواعِ الطَّعامِ أنْ يُقَلِّلَ مِنْ شَأنِ مَنْ لا يَأكُلُ أطعِمَةً مُعَيَّنَةً. كَما لا يَنبَغي عَلَى مَنْ لا يَأكُلُ أطْعِمَةً مُعَيَّنَةً، أنْ يَدِينَ مَنْ يَأكُلُ جَمِيعَ الأنْواعِ، لِأنَّ اللهَ قَدْ قَبِلَهُ.

Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4 ف َمَنْ أنتَ لِكَي تَدِينَ عَبدَ غَيرِكَ؟ فَسَيِّدُهُ يَحْكُمُ فِي أمْرِ نَجاحِهِ أوْ فَشَلِهِ. وَسَيَنْجَحُ، لِأنَّ الرَّبَّ قادِرٌ أنْ يُنجِحَهُ.

Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5 و َهُناكَ أيضاً مَنْ يُفَضِّلُ يَوماً عَلَى يَومٍ، وَهُناكَ مَنْ يَعتَبِرُ الأيّامَ كُلَّها سَواءً. لَكِنْ يَنبَغي عَلَى كُلِّ واحِدٍ أنْ يَكُونَ مُقتَنِعاً بِمَوقِفِهِ فِي نَفْسِهِ.

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 ف َمَنْ يُراعِي يَوماً أكثَرَ مِنْ غَيرِهِ، فَليُراعِهِ مِنْ أجلِ الرَّبِّ. وَمَنْ يَأكُلُ أيَّ طَعامٍ، فَلْيَأكُلْهُ لِيُكرِمَ الرَّبَّ، شاكِراً اللهَ. وَالَّذِي يَمتَنِعُ عَنْ تَناوُلِ بَعضِ الأطعِمَةِ، لِيُكرِمِ الرَّبَّ أيضاً وَيَشكُرِ اللهَ.

He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7 ف َما مِنْ أحَدٍ مِنّا يَعِيشُ لِنَفسِهِ، وَما مِنْ أحَدٍ يَمُوتُ لِنَفسِهِ.

For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8 ف َإنْ عِشنا فَإنَّنا نَعِيشُ وَنَحنُ لِلرَّبِّ. وَإنْ مِتنا، فَإنَّنا نَمُوتُ وَنَحنُ لِلرَّبِّ. فَسَواءٌ عِشنا أوْ مِتنا، فَإنَّما لِلرَّبِّ نَحنُ.

For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

9 و َلِهَذا ماتَ المَسِيحُ وَقامَ: لِيَكُونَ رَبّاً عَلَى مَنْ هُمْ أمواتٌ وَعَلَى مَنْ هُمْ أحياءُ.

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 ف َلِماذا تَدِينُ أخاكَ؟ أوْ لِماذا تَستَخِفُّ بِأخِيكَ؟ لِأنَّنا كُلُّنا سَنَقِفُ أمامَ كُرسِيِّ قَضاءِ اللهِ.

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 ل ِأنَّهُ مَكتُوبٌ: «كَما هُوَ اليَقينُ بِأنِّيْ حَيٌّ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ، هَكَذا سَتَنحَنِي أمامِي كُلُّ رُكبَةٍ، وَسَيَعتَرِفُ بِي كُلُّ لِسانٍ.›»

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 إ ذاً سَيُقَدِّمُ كُلُّ واحِدٍ مِنّا حِساباً عَنْ نَفسِهِ أمامَ اللهِ. لا تُكُونُوا عَقَبَةً فِي طَرِيقِ الآخَرِين

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 إ ذاً لا يَحكُمْ بَعضُنا عَلَى بَعضٍ فِيما بَعْدُ، لَكِنْ لِنُقَرِّرْ أنْ لا نَضَعَ عَقَبَةً أوْ إغراءً أَمامَ الإخوَةِ.

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

14 و لِأنَّنِي فِي الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ، فَإنِّيْ أعلَمُ يَقِيناً أنَّهُ ما مِنْ طَعامٍ نَجِسٌ فِي ذاتِهِ، إلّا لِمَنْ يَعتَبِرُهُ نَجِساً، فَيَكُونُ لَهُ نَجِساً حَقّاً.

I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15 ف َإنِ تَأذَّىْ أخُوكَ بِسَبَبِ طَعامٍ تَأكُلُهُ، فَإنَّكَ لا تَسلُكُ بِحَسَبِ المَحَبَّةِ. فَلا تَدَعْ طَعامَكَ يُهلِكُ ذاكَ الَّذِي ماتَ المَسِيحُ مِنْ أجلِهِ.

But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16 و َلا تَسمَحْ لِما تَراهُ صالِحاً لَكَ، أنْ يَكُونَ مَوضُوعاً لِلانتِقادِ.

Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 ف َمَلَكوتُ اللهِ لا يَقومُ عَلَىْ الطَعامِ وَالشَّرابِ، بَلْ عَلَىْ البِرِّ وَالسَّلامِ وَالفَرَحِ فِي الرُّوحِ القُدُسِ.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18 و َمَنْ يَخدِمُ المَسِيحَ عَلَى هَذا النَّحوِ، يَحظَى بِرِضَى اللهِ وَيَمدَحُهُ النّاسُ.

For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19 ف َلْنَسعَ إذاً إلَىْ ما يُؤَدِّي إلَى السَّلامِ، وَما يُسهِمُ فِي أنْ يَبني أحَدُنا الآخَرَ.

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 ل ا تَهدِمْ عَمَلَ اللهِ بِسَبَبِ طَعامٍ تَأكُلُهُ. كُلُّ الأطعِمَةِ طاهِرَةٌ، لَكِنْ لا يَصِحُّ أنْ يَأكُلَ إنسانٌ شَيئاً يُعثِرُ الآخَرَينَ.

For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21 ب َلْ مِنَ الأفضَلِ أنْ تَمتَنِعَ عَنْ أكلِ اللَّحمِ وَشُربِ الخَمرِ، أوْ أيِّ شَيءٍ يُمكِنُ أنْ يَجعَلَ أخاكَ يُخطِئُ.

It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22 ا حتَفِظْ بِمُعتَقَداتِكَ فِي هَذا الأمرِ بَينَكَ وَبَينَ اللهِ. وَهَنِيئاً لِمَنْ لا يَدِينُ نَفسَهُ بِسَبَبِ ما يَراهُ حَسَناً.

Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 و َأمّا مَنْ يَشُكُّ بِما يَفعَلُهُ، فَهُوَ مُخطِئٌ لِأنَّهُ لَمْ يَأكُلْ بِحَسَبِ ما يُؤمِنُ بِهِ. لِأنَّ ما تَعمَلُهُ مُخالِفاً لإيمانِكَ، هُوَ خَطِيَّةٌ بِالنِّسبَةِ لَكَ!

And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
