1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
The Lord said to Moses,
2 S peak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any one shall sin unwittingly, in any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and shall do any one of them:
“Say to the people of Israel, ‘If a person sins without meaning to, by not obeying what the Lord has told us to do, these are the rules he must follow.
3 i f the anointed priest shall sin so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto Jehovah for a sin-offering.
If the chosen religious leader sins and so brings guilt on the people, let him give to the Lord a bull that is perfect. It is a sin gift for the sin he has done.
4 A nd he shall bring the bullock unto the door of the tent of meeting before Jehovah; and he shall lay his hand upon the head of the bullock, and kill the bullock before Jehovah.
He will bring the bull to the door of the meeting tent before the Lord. He will lay his hand on the head of the bull, and kill the bull before the Lord.
5 A nd the anointed priest shall take of the blood of the bullock, and bring it to the tent of meeting:
Then the chosen religious leader is to take some of the bull’s blood and bring it to the meeting tent.
6 a nd the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before Jehovah, before the veil of the sanctuary.
The religious leader will put his finger in the blood and put some of the blood seven times before the Lord and in front of the curtain of the holy place.
7 A nd the priest shall put of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before Jehovah, which is in the tent of meeting; and all the blood of the bullock shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting.
And the religious leader will put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet-smelling perfume in the meeting tent before the Lord. Then he will pour out all of the bull’s blood at the base of the altar of burnt gifts at the door of the meeting tent.
8 A nd all the fat of the bullock of the sin-offering he shall take off from it; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,
He will take from it all the fat of the bull of the sin gift, the fat that covers the inside parts, and all the fat that is on the inside parts,
9 a nd the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the loins, and the caul upon the liver, with the kidneys, shall he take away,
and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and the part on the liver, which he will take off with the kidneys,
10 a s it is taken off from the ox of the sacrifice of peace-offerings: and the priest shall burn them upon the altar of burnt-offering.
just as these are taken from the bull of the peace gift. The religious leader is to burn them on the altar of burnt gifts.
11 A nd the skin of the bullock, and all its flesh, with its head, and with its legs, and its inwards, and its dung,
But the bull’s skin and all its flesh, its head, legs, inside parts and its waste,
12 e ven the whole bullock shall he carry forth without the camp unto a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire: where the ashes are poured out shall it be burnt.
all the rest of the bull, he is to bring to a clean place away from the tents, where the ashes are poured out. There he will burn it on wood with fire. It will be burned where the ashes are poured out.
13 A nd if the whole congregation of Israel err, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and are guilty;
‘If all the people of Israel sin and do not obey what the Lord has told them, without meaning to and without knowing about it, they are guilty.
14 w hen the sin wherein they have sinned is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bullock for a sin-offering, and bring it before the tent of meeting.
When their sin becomes known, the people will give a bull from the herd for a sin gift. They will bring it in front of the meeting tent.
15 A nd the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bullock before Jehovah; and the bullock shall be killed before Jehovah.
Then the leaders of the people will lay their hands on the bull’s head before the Lord. And the bull will be killed before the Lord.
16 A nd the anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bullock to the tent of meeting:
The chosen religious leader will take some of the bull’s blood to the meeting tent.
17 a nd the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before Jehovah, before the veil.
There the religious leader will put his finger in the blood and put it seven times before the Lord and in front of the curtains.
18 A nd he shall put of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before Jehovah, that is in the tent of meeting; and all the blood shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering, which is at the door of the tent of meeting.
He will put some of the blood on the horns of the altar before the Lord in the meeting tent. And he will pour out all the blood at the base of the altar of burnt gifts at the door of the meeting tent.
19 A nd all the fat thereof shall he take off from it, and burn it upon the altar.
He will take all its fat from it and burn it on the altar.
20 T hus shall he do with the bullock; as he did with the bullock of the sin-offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.
He will do the same with the bull as he did with the bull of the sin gift. So the religious leader will pay for their sins. And they will be forgiven.
21 A nd he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bullock: it is the sin-offering for the assembly.
Then he will bring the bull away from the tents and burn it as he burned the first bull. It is the sin gift for all the people.
22 W hen a ruler sinneth, and doeth unwittingly any one of all the things which Jehovah his God hath commanded not to be done, and is guilty;
‘When a leader sins without meaning to, by doing any of all the things the Lord God has told us not to do, he becomes guilty.
23 i f his sin, wherein he hath sinned, be made known to him, he shall bring for his oblation a goat, a male without blemish.
If his sin is made known to him, he will bring for his gift a male goat that is perfect.
24 A nd he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt-offering before Jehovah: it is a sin-offering.
He will lay his hand on the head of the male goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt gifts before the Lord. It is a sin gift.
25 A nd the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar of burnt-offering.
Then the religious leader will take some of the blood of the sin gift with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt gifts. He will pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar of burnt gifts.
26 A nd all the fat thereof shall he burn upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him as concerning his sin, and he shall be forgiven.
He will burn all its fat on the altar like the fat of the peace gifts. So the religious leader will pay the price for the man’s sin. And he will be forgiven.
27 A nd if any one of the common people sin unwittingly, in doing any of the things which Jehovah hath commanded not to be done, and be guilty;
‘If anyone among the people of the land sins without meaning to, by doing any of the things the Lord said not to do, he becomes guilty.
28 i f his sin, which he hath sinned, be made known to him, then he shall bring for his oblation a goat, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.
If his sin is made known to him, he will bring for his gift a female goat that is perfect, for the sin he has done.
29 A nd he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering, and kill the sin-offering in the place of burnt-offering.
He will lay his hand on the head of the sin gift, and kill the sin gift at the place of burnt gifts.
30 A nd the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar.
The religious leader will take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt gifts. He will pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
31 A nd all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat is taken away from off the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savor unto Jehovah; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven.
Then he will take all its fat, just as the fat was taken from the peace gifts. And the religious leader will burn it on the altar for a pleasing smell to the Lord. So the religious leader will pay for his sin. And he will be forgiven.
32 A nd if he bring a lamb as his oblation for a sin-offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.
‘If he brings a lamb for a sin gift, he will bring a female lamb that is perfect.
33 A nd he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering, and kill it for a sin-offering in the place where they kill the burnt-offering.
He will lay his hand on the head of the sin gift, and kill it for a sin gift in the place where they kill the burnt gifts.
34 A nd the priest shall take of the blood of the sin-offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering; and all the blood thereof shall he pour out at the base of the altar:
The religious leader will take some of the blood of the sin gift with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt gifts. He will pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
35 a nd all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace-offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, upon the offerings of Jehovah made by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned, and he shall be forgiven.
Then he will take all its fat, just as the lamb’s fat is taken from the peace gifts. The religious leader will burn it on the altar, on the gifts by fire to the Lord. So the religious leader will pay for him the price for the sin he has done. And he will be forgiven.
