1 J otham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king. And he ruled for sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
2 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: howbeit he entered not into the temple of Jehovah. And the people did yet corruptly.
Jotham did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He did all that his father Uzziah had done, only he did not go into the house of the Lord. But the people still sinned much.
3 H e built the upper gate of the house of Jehovah, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
Jotham built the upper gate of the Lord’s house, and did much building on the wall of Ophel.
4 M oreover he built cities in the hill-country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
He built cities in the hill country of Judah, and strong places and towers on the tree-covered hills.
5 H e fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Ammon render unto him, in the second year also, and in the third.
He fought with the king of the Ammonites and won the war against them so that the Ammonites paid taxes to him. During that year they paid him silver weighing as much as 100 men, 100, 000 baskets of wheat, and 100, 000 baskets of barley. The Ammonites also paid him this amount in the second and in the third year.
6 S o Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Jehovah his God.
So Jotham became powerful, because he let the Lord his God lead him in all his ways.
7 N ow the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

8 H e was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.

9 A nd Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
Jotham died and they buried him in the city of David. His son Ahaz became king in his place.
