1 A nd Jehovah called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tent of meeting, saying,

The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the meeting tent, saying,

2 S peak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man of you offereth an oblation unto Jehovah, ye shall offer your oblation of the cattle, even of the herd and of the flock.

“Speak to the people of Israel. Tell them, ‘When any of you bring a gift in worship to the Lord, bring your gift of animals from the herd or the flock.

3 I f his oblation be a burnt-offering of the herd, he shall offer it a male without blemish: he shall offer it at the door of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before Jehovah.

If his gift is a burnt gift from the cattle, he should bring a male that is perfect. He should give it at the door of the meeting tent, so he will be pleasing to the Lord.

4 A nd he shall lay his hand upon the head of the burnt-offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.

He will lay his hand on the head of the burnt gift and it will be received to take away his sins.

5 A nd he shall kill the bullock before Jehovah: and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall present the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is at the door of the tent of meeting.

He will kill the young bull before the Lord. Then Aaron’s sons, the religious leaders, will take the blood and put it around on the altar that is at the door of the meeting tent.

6 A nd he shall flay the burnt-offering, and cut it into its pieces.

He will skin the burnt gift and cut it into pieces.

7 A nd the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay wood in order upon the fire;

The sons of Aaron the religious leader will put fire on the altar and lay wood on the fire.

8 a nd Aaron's sons, the priests, shall lay the pieces, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Then Aaron’s sons, the religious leaders, will lay the pieces, the head and the fat on the wood that is on the altar fire.

9 b ut its inwards and its legs shall he wash with water: and the priest shall burn the whole on the altar, for a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah.

But he will wash its legs and inside parts with water. Then the religious leader will burn all of it on the altar as a burnt gift. It will be a gift by fire, a pleasing smell to the Lord.

10 A nd if his oblation be of the flock, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt-offering; he shall offer it a male without blemish.

‘If his gift is a burnt gift from the sheep or the goats of the flock, he should give a male that is perfect.

11 A nd he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before Jehovah: and Aaron's sons, the priests, shall sprinkle its blood upon the altar round about.

He should kill it on the north side of the altar before the Lord. Aaron’s sons, the religious leaders, will put its blood around on the altar.

12 A nd he shall cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat; and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Then he will cut it into pieces with its head and its fat. And the religious leader will lay them on the wood that is on the altar fire.

13 b ut the inwards and the legs shall he wash with water; and the priest shall offer the whole, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah.

But he will wash the legs and inside parts with water. The religious leader will burn all of it on the altar as a burnt gift. It will be a gift by fire, a pleasing smell to the Lord.

14 A nd if his oblation to Jehovah be a burnt-offering of birds, then he shall offer his oblation of turtle-doves, or of young pigeons.

‘If his gift is a burnt gift of birds, he should bring his gift from the turtle-doves or young pigeons.

15 A nd the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off its head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be drained out on the side of the altar;

The religious leader will bring it to the altar and take off its head. Then he will burn it on the altar. Its blood will flow down on the side of the altar.

16 a nd he shall take away its crop with the filth thereof, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, in the place of the ashes:

He will take the part of its body where the food it eats is kept and with its feathers throw them on the ashes on the east side of the altar.

17 a nd he shall rend it by the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder; and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt-offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Jehovah.

Then he will tear it by its wings, but not divide it. And the religious leader will burn it on the altar as a burnt gift. It will be a gift by fire, a pleasing smell to the Lord.
