1 A nswer me when I call, O God of my righteousness (uprightness, justice, and right standing with You)! You have freed me when I was hemmed in and enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.

2 O you sons of men, how long will you turn my honor and glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and futility and seek after lies? Selah!
O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
3 B ut know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly. The Lord listens and heeds when I call to Him.
But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
4 B e angry and sin not; commune with your own hearts upon your beds and be silent (sorry for the things you say in your hearts). Selah!
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
5 O ffer just and right sacrifices; trust (lean on and be confident) in the Lord.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
6 M any say, Oh, that we might see some good! Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord.
There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
7 Y ou have put more joy and rejoicing in my heart than when their wheat and new wine have yielded abundantly.
Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
8 I n peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
