1 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are the undefiled (the upright, truly sincere, and blameless) in the way, who walk (order their conduct and conversation) in the law of the Lord (the whole of God’s revealed will).

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

2 B lessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are they who keep His testimonies, and who seek, inquire for and of Him and crave Him with the whole heart.

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

3 Y es, they do no unrighteousness; they walk in His ways.

They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

4 Y ou have commanded us to keep Your precepts, that we should observe them diligently.

Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

5 O h, that my ways were directed and established to observe Your statutes!

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

6 T hen shall I not be put to shame when I have respect to all Your commandments.

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

7 I will praise and give thanks to You with uprightness of heart when I learn Your righteous judgments.

8 I will keep Your statutes; O forsake me not utterly.

9 H ow shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed and keeping watch according to Your word.

10 W ith my whole heart have I sought You, inquiring for and of You and yearning for You; Oh, let me not wander or step aside from Your commandments.

11 Y our word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

12 B lessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes.

13 W ith my lips have I declared and recounted all the ordinances of Your mouth.

14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies as much as in all riches.

15 I will meditate on Your precepts and have respect to Your ways.

17 D eal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live; and I will observe Your word.

18 O pen my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of Your law.

19 I am a stranger and a temporary resident on the earth; hide not Your commandments from me.

20 M y heart is breaking with the longing that it has for Your ordinances and judgments at all times.

21 Y ou rebuke the proud and arrogant, the accursed ones, who err and wander from Your commandments.

Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.

22 T ake away from me reproach and contempt, for I keep Your testimonies.

23 P rinces also sat and talked against me, but Your servant meditated on Your statutes.

Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

24 Y our testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

25 M y earthly life cleaves to the dust; revive and stimulate me according to Your word!

My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

26 I have declared my ways and opened my griefs to You, and You listened to me; teach me Your statutes.

27 M ake me understand the way of Your precepts; so shall I meditate on and talk of Your wondrous works.

Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

28 M y life dissolves and weeps itself away for heaviness; raise me up and strengthen me according to Your word.

My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

29 R emove from me the way of falsehood and unfaithfulness, and graciously impart Your law to me.

Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.

30 I have chosen the way of truth and faithfulness; Your ordinances have I set before me.

I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.

31 I cleave to Your testimonies; O Lord, put me not to shame!

I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.

32 I will run the way of Your commandments, when You give me a heart that is willing.

33 T each me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I will keep it to the end.

Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

34 G ive me understanding, that I may keep Your law; yes, I will observe it with my whole heart.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

35 M ake me go in the path of Your commandments, for in them do I delight.

Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

36 I ncline my heart to Your testimonies and not to covetousness (robbery, sensuality, unworthy riches).

Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

37 T urn away my eyes from beholding vanity (idols and idolatry); and restore me to vigorous life and health in Your ways.

Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

38 E stablish Your word and confirm Your promise to Your servant, which is for those who reverently fear and devotedly worship You.

Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

39 T urn away my reproach which I fear and dread, for Your ordinances are good.

Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.

40 B ehold, I long for Your precepts; in Your righteousness give me renewed life.

Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

41 L et Your mercy and loving-kindness come also to me, O Lord, even Your salvation according to Your promise;

Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word.

42 T hen shall I have an answer for those who taunt and reproach me, for I lean on, rely on, and trust in Your word.

So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

43 A nd take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for I hope in Your ordinances.

And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

44 I will keep Your law continually, forever and ever.

So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.

45 A nd I will walk at liberty and at ease, for I have sought and inquired for Your precepts.

And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

46 I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings and will not be put to shame.

47 F or I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love.

48 M y hands also will I lift up to Your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on Your statutes.

49 R emember the word and promise to Your servant, in which You have caused me to hope.

50 T his is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life.

51 T he proud have had me greatly in derision, yet have I not declined in my interest in or turned aside from Your law.

53 B urning indignation, terror, and sadness seize upon me because of the wicked, who forsake Your law.

54 Y our statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

55 I have remembered Your name, O Lord, in the night, and I have observed Your law.

56 T his I have had: that I have kept Your precepts.

57 Y ou are my portion, O Lord; I have promised to keep Your words.

58 I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; be merciful and gracious to me according to Your promise.

59 I considered my ways; I turned my feet to Your testimonies.

60 I made haste and delayed not to keep Your commandments.

61 T hough the cords of the wicked have enclosed and ensnared me, I have not forgotten Your law.

62 A t midnight I will rise to give thanks to You because of Your righteous ordinances.

63 I am a companion of all those who fear, revere, and worship You, and of those who observe and give heed to Your precepts.

64 T he earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy and loving-kindness; teach me Your statutes.

65 Y ou have dealt well with Your servant, O Lord, according to Your promise.

66 T each me good judgment, wise and right discernment, and knowledge, for I have believed (trusted, relied on, and clung to) Your commandments.

Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.

67 B efore I was afflicted I went astray, but now Your word do I keep.

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.

68 Y ou are good and kind and do good; teach me Your statutes.

69 T he arrogant and godless have put together a lie against me, but I will keep Your precepts with my whole heart.

70 T heir hearts are as fat as grease, but I delight in Your law.

71 I t is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn Your statutes.

72 T he law from Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

73 Y our hands have made me, cunningly fashioned and established me; give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.

74 T hose who reverently and worshipfully fear You will see me and be glad, because I have hoped in Your word and tarried for it.

They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

75 I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are right and righteous, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.

I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

76 L et, I pray You, Your merciful kindness and steadfast love be for my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant.

77 L et Your tender mercy and loving-kindness come to me that I may live, for Your law is my delight!

78 L et the proud be put to shame, for they dealt perversely with me without a cause; but I will meditate on Your precepts.

81 M y soul languishes and grows faint for Your salvation, but I hope in Your word.

My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.

82 M y eyes fail, watching for Your promise. I say, When will You comfort me?

Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

83 F or I have become like a bottle in the smoke, yet do I not forget Your statutes.

For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

84 H ow many are the days of Your servant ? When will You judge those who pursue and persecute me?

How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

85 T he godless and arrogant have dug pitfalls for me, men who do not conform to Your law.

The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.

86 A ll Your commandments are faithful and sure. pursue and persecute me with falsehood; help me!

All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.

87 T hey had almost consumed me upon earth, but I forsook not Your precepts.

They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.

88 A ccording to Your steadfast love give life to me; then I will keep the testimony of Your mouth.

Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

89 F orever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

90 Y our faithfulness is from generation to generation; You have established the earth, and it stands fast.

Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

91 A ll are Your servants; therefore they continue this day according to Your ordinances.

They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.

92 U nless Your law had been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.

Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.

93 I will never forget Your precepts, for it is by them You have quickened me (granted me life).

I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.

94 I am Yours, therefore save me; for I have sought (inquired of and for) Your precepts and required them.

95 T he wicked wait for me to destroy me, but I will consider Your testimonies.

96 I have seen that everything has its limits and end; but Your commandment is exceedingly broad and extends without limits.

I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

97 O h, how love I Your law! It is my meditation all the day.

98 Y ou, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for are ever before me.

Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

99 I have better understanding and deeper insight than all my teachers, because Your testimonies are my meditation.

100 I understand more than the aged, because I keep Your precepts.

101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Your word.

118 Y ou spurn and set at nought all those who stray from Your statutes, for their own lying deceives them and their tricks are in vain.

120 M y flesh trembles and shudders for fear and reverential, worshipful awe of You, and I am afraid and in dread of Your judgments.

121 I have done justice and righteousness; leave me not to those who would oppress me.

123 M y eyes fail, watching for Your salvation and for the fulfillment of Your righteous promise.

124 D eal with Your servant according to Your mercy and loving-kindness, and teach me Your statutes.

125 I am Your servant; give me understanding (discernment and comprehension), that I may know (discern and be familiar with the character of) Your testimonies.

126 I t is time for the Lord to act; they have frustrated Your law.

It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law.

127 T herefore I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, more than refined gold.

130 T he entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.

131 I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your commandments.

132 L ook upon me, be merciful unto me, and show me favor, as is Your way to those who love Your name.

133 E stablish my steps and direct them by Your word; let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

138 Y ou have commanded and appointed Your testimonies in righteousness and in great faithfulness.

139 M y zeal has consumed me and cut me off, because my adversaries have forgotten Your words.

My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.

140 Y our word is very pure (tried and well refined); therefore Your servant loves it.

141 I am small (insignificant) and despised, but I do not forget Your precepts.

142 Y our righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth.

143 T rouble and anguish have found and taken hold on me, yet Your commandments are my delight.

144 Y our righteous testimonies are everlasting and Your decrees are binding to eternity; give me understanding and I shall live.

148 M y eyes anticipate the night watches and I am awake before the cry of the watchman, that I may meditate on Your word.

149 H ear my voice according to Your steadfast love; O Lord, quicken me and give me life according to Your decrees.

Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O Lord, quicken me according to thy judgment.

150 T hey draw near who follow after wrong thinking and persecute me with wickedness; they are far from Your law.

They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.

151 Y ou are near, O Lord, and all Your commandments are truth.

Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth.

152 O f old have I known Your testimonies, and for a long time, that You have founded them forever.

Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.

153 C onsider my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget Your law.

Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.

154 P lead my cause and redeem me; revive me and give me life according to Your word.

Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word.

155 S alvation is far from the wicked, for they seek not nor hunger for Your statutes.

Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.

156 G reat are Your tender mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord; give me life according to Your ordinances.

Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord: quicken me according to thy judgments.

157 M any are my persecutors and my adversaries, yet I do not swerve from Your testimonies.

Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies.

158 I behold the treacherous and am grieved and loathe them, because they do not respect Your law.

I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.

159 C onsider how I love Your precepts; revive me and give life to me, O Lord, according to Your loving-kindness!

Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness.

160 T he sum of Your word is truth; and every one of Your righteous decrees endures forever.

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

161 P rinces pursue and persecute me without cause, but my heart stands in awe of Your words.

Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

162 I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great spoil.

I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

163 I hate and abhor falsehood, but Your law do I love.

I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.

164 S even times a day and all day long do I praise You because of Your righteous decrees.

Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.

165 G reat peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble.

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

166 I am hoping and waiting for Your salvation, O Lord, and I do Your commandments.

Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.

167 Y our testimonies have I kept; I love them exceedingly!

My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.

168 I have observed Your precepts and Your testimonies, for all my ways are before You.

169 L et my mournful cry and supplication come before You, O Lord; give me understanding (discernment and comprehension) according to Your word.

Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word.

170 L et my supplication come before You; deliver me according to Your word!

171 M y lips shall pour forth praise when You teach me Your statutes.

My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.

172 M y tongue shall sing of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteous.

My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

173 L et Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts.

Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
