1 B ut there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Pero hubo también falsos profetas entre el pueblo, como habrá entre vosotros falsos maestros, que introducirán encubiertamente herejías destructoras, y aun negarán al Dueño que los compró, atrayendo sobre sí mismos destrucción repentina.

2 A nd many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

Y muchos seguirán la lascivia de ellos, por causa de los cuales el camino de la verdad era blasfemado,

3 A nd through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

y en su avaricia harán mercadería de vosotros con palabras fingidas. El juicio pronunciado sobre ellos hace tiempo no se tarda, y su perdición no se duerme.

4 F or if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Porque si Dios no perdonó a los ángeles que pecaron, sino que arrojándolos al infierno los entregó a prisiones de oscuridad, para ser reservados hasta el juicio;

5 a nd spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

y si no perdonó al mundo antiguo, sino que guardó a Noé, pregonero de justicia, con otras siete personas, trayendo el diluvio sobre un mundo de impíos;

6 a nd turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

y si condenó a la destrucción a las ciudades de Sodoma y de Gomorra, reduciéndolas a ceniza y poniéndolas como ejemplo a los que habían de vivir impíamente,

7 a nd delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

y libró al justo Lot, abrumado por la conducta licenciosa de aquellos libertinos

8 ( for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

(porque este justo, que residía entre ellos, afligía cada día su alma justa, viendo y oyendo los hechos inicuos de ellos),

9 t he Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

sabe el Señor librar de tentación a los piadosos, y reservar a los injustos bajo castigo para el día del juicio;

10 b ut chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

y especialmente a aquellos que, siguiendo la carne, andan en concupiscencia e inmundicia, y desprecian el Señorío. Atrevidos y contumaces, no temen decir mal de las potestades superiores,

11 W hereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

mientras que los ángeles, que son mayores en fuerza y en poder, no pronuncian juicio de maldición contra ellas delante del Señor.

12 B ut these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

Pero éstos, hablando mal de cosas que no entienden, como animales irracionales, nacidos para presa y destrucción, perecerán en su propia perdición,

13 a nd shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

recibiendo el galardón de su injusticia, ya que tienen por delicia el gozar del placer efímero. Éstos son inmundicias y manchas, quienes aun mientras comen con vosotros, se recrean en sus errores.

14 h aving eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

Tienen los ojos llenos de adulterio, no se sacian de pecar, seducen a las almas inconstantes, tienen el corazón habituado a la codicia, y son hijos de maldición.

15 w hich have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

Han dejado el camino recto, y se han extraviado siguiendo el camino de Balaam hijo de Beor, el cual amó el pago de la iniquidad,

16 b ut was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

y fue reprendido por su transgresión; pues una muda bestia de carga, hablando con voz de hombre, refrenó la locura del profeta.

17 T hese are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

Éstos son fuentes sin agua, y brumas empujadas por la tormenta; para los cuales la más densa oscuridad está reservada para siempre.

18 F or when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

Pues pronunciando palabras arrogantes y vanas, seducen con concupiscencias de la carne y sensualidad a los que acaban de escapar de los que viven en error.

19 W hile they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

Les prometen libertad, y son ellos mismos esclavos de corrupción. Porque el que es vencido por alguno, queda hecho esclavo del que lo venció.

20 F or if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Porque si, después de haber escapado de las contaminaciones del mundo por el conocimiento del Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, enredándose otra vez en ellas son vencidos, su postrer estado viene a ser peor que el primero.

21 F or it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

Porque mejor les hubiera sido no haber conocido el camino de la justicia, que después de haberlo conocido, volverse atrás del santo mandamiento que les fue dado.

22 B ut it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Les ha acontecido lo de aquel proverbio tan verdadero: El perro vuelve a su vómito, y la puerca lavada a revolcarse en el cieno.
