1 T hus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Así dice Jehová: ¿Qué es de la carta de repudio de vuestra madre, con la cual yo la repudié? ¿O quiénes son mis acreedores, a quienes yo os he vendido? He aquí que por vuestras maldades fuisteis vendidos, y por vuestras rebeldías fue repudiada vuestra madre.

2 W herefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

¿Por qué, cuando vine, no hallé a nadie, y cuando llamé, nadie respondió? ¿Acaso se ha acortado mi mano para no redimir? ¿No hay en mí poder para librar? He aquí que con mi reprensión hago secar el mar; convierto los ríos en desierto; sus peces se vuelven fétidos por falta de agua, y mueren de sed.

3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Visto de oscuridad los cielos, y hago como cilicio su cubierta.

4 T he Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

Jehová el Señor me dio lengua de sabios, para saber cómo animar con palabras al cansado; despertará mañana tras mañana, despertará mi oído para que oiga como los sabios.

5 T he Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

Jehová el Señor me abrió el oído, y yo no me resistí, ni me volví atrás.

6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Di mis espaldas a los que me golpeaban, y mis mejillas a los que me mesaban la barba; no escondí mi rostro de injurias y de esputos.

7 F or the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

Porque Jehová el Señor me ayudará, por tanto no me avergoncé; por eso puse mi rostro como un pedernal, y sé que no seré avergonzado.

8 H e is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.

Cerca está de mí el que me justifica; ¿quién contenderá conmigo? Presentémonos juntos. ¿Quién es el adversario de mi causa? Acérquese a mí.

9 B ehold, the Lord God will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

He aquí que Jehová el Señor me ayudará; ¿quién hay que me condene? He aquí que todos ellos se desgastarán como ropa de vestir, serán comidos por la polilla.

10 W ho is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

¿Quién hay entre vosotros que teme a Jehová, que obedece a la voz de su siervo? Aunque ande en tinieblas y carezca de luz, confíe en el nombre de Jehová, y apóyese en su Dios.

11 B ehold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

He aquí, todos vosotros que encendéis fuego, y os rodeáis de teas; andad a la luz de vuestro fuego, y de las teas que encendisteis. De mi mano os vendrá esto; en dolor yaceréis.
