Hebrews 3 ~ Hebrews 3

1 T herefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;

2 w ho was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.

He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house.

3 F or this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.

For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.

4 F or every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.

For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.

5 A nd Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward,

Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;

6 b ut Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. Be Faithful

but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house— whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.

7 T herefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice,

Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, “ Today if you hear His voice,

8 D o not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,

Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me, As in the day of trial in the wilderness,

9 W here your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.

Where your fathers tried Me by testing Me, And saw My works for forty years.

10 T herefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’

“ Therefore I was angry with this generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they did not know My ways ’;

11 S o I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”

As I swore in My wrath, ‘ They shall not enter My rest.’” The Peril of Unbelief

12 B eware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;

Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.

13 b ut exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

14 F or we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,

For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,

15 w hile it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers

while it is said, “ Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.”

16 F or who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?

For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?

17 N ow with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?

And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

18 A nd to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?

And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?

19 S o we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
