And Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth;

2 A nd a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;

and a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb was being carried, whom they placed every day at the gate of the temple called Beautiful, to ask alms of those who were going into the temple;

3 w ho, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.

who, seeing Peter and John about to enter into the temple, asked to receive alms.

4 A nd fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”

And Peter, looking stedfastly upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 S o he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

And he gave heed to them, expecting to receive something from them.

6 T hen Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

But Peter said, Silver and gold I have not; but what I have, this give I to thee: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean rise up and walk.

7 A nd he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

And having taken hold of him the right hand he raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones were made strong.

8 S o he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.

And leaping up he stood and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

9 A nd all the people saw him walking and praising God.

And all the people saw him walking and praising God;

10 T hen they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Preaching in Solomon’s Portico

and they recognised him, that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 N ow as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed.

And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico which is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

12 S o when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

And Peter, seeing it, answered the people, Men of Israel, why are ye astonished at this? or why do ye gaze on us as if we had by our own power or piety made him to walk?

13 T he God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.

The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he had judged that he should be let go.

14 B ut you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

But ye denied the holy and righteous one, and asked that a man a murderer should be granted to you;

15 a nd killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

but the originator of life ye slew, whom God raised from among dead, whereof we are witnesses.

16 A nd His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

And, by faith in his name, his name has made this strong whom ye behold and know; and the faith which is by him has given him this complete soundness in the presence of you all.

17 Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers.

And now, brethren, I know that ye did it in ignorance, as also your rulers;

18 B ut those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.

but God has thus fulfilled what he had announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer.

19 R epent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Repent therefore and be converted, for the blotting out of your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from presence of the Lord,

20 a nd that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,

and he may send Jesus Christ, who was foreordained for you,

21 w hom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

whom heaven indeed must receive till times of restoring of all things, of which God has spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets since time began.

22 F or Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The L ord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you.

Moses indeed said, A prophet shall Lord your God raise up to you out of your brethren like me: him shall ye hear in everything whatsoever he shall say to you.

23 A nd it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

And it shall be that whatsoever soul shall not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.

24 Y es, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.

And indeed all the prophets from Samuel and those in succession after, as many as have spoken, have announced also these days.

25 Y ou are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

Ye are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God appointed to our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

26 T o you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

To you first God, having raised up his servant, has sent him, blessing you in turning each one from your wickedness.
