1 T he elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed:

2 S hepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;

shepherd the flock of God which among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily;

3 n or as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;

not as lording it over your possessions, but being models for the flock.

4 a nd when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. Submit to God, Resist the Devil

And when the chief shepherd is manifested ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.

5 L ikewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

Likewise younger, be subject to elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against proud, but to humble gives grace.

6 T herefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in time;

7 c asting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

8 B e sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.

9 R esist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which in world.

10 B ut may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground:

11 T o Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Farewell and Peace

to him the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen.

12 B y Silvanus, our faithful brother as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

13 S he who is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you; and so does Mark my son.
