1 N ow Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

And Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth;

2 A nd a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

and a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb was being carried, whom they placed every day at the gate of the temple called Beautiful, to ask alms of those who were going into the temple;

3 W ho seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

who, seeing Peter and John about to enter into the temple, asked to receive alms.

4 A nd Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

And Peter, looking stedfastly upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 A nd he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

And he gave heed to them, expecting to receive something from them.

6 T hen Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

But Peter said, Silver and gold I have not; but what I have, this give I to thee: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean rise up and walk.

7 A nd he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

And having taken hold of him the right hand he raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones were made strong.

8 A nd he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

And leaping up he stood and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

9 A nd all the people saw him walking and praising God:

And all the people saw him walking and praising God;

10 A nd they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

and they recognised him, that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 A nd as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico which is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

12 A nd when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

And Peter, seeing it, answered the people, Men of Israel, why are ye astonished at this? or why do ye gaze on us as if we had by our own power or piety made him to walk?

13 T he God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he had judged that he should be let go.

14 B ut ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

But ye denied the holy and righteous one, and asked that a man a murderer should be granted to you;

15 A nd killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

but the originator of life ye slew, whom God raised from among dead, whereof we are witnesses.

16 A nd his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

And, by faith in his name, his name has made this strong whom ye behold and know; and the faith which is by him has given him this complete soundness in the presence of you all.

17 A nd now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.

And now, brethren, I know that ye did it in ignorance, as also your rulers;

18 B ut those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

but God has thus fulfilled what he had announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer.

19 R epent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

Repent therefore and be converted, for the blotting out of your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from presence of the Lord,

20 A nd he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

and he may send Jesus Christ, who was foreordained for you,

21 W hom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

whom heaven indeed must receive till times of restoring of all things, of which God has spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets since time began.

22 F or Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

Moses indeed said, A prophet shall Lord your God raise up to you out of your brethren like me: him shall ye hear in everything whatsoever he shall say to you.

23 A nd it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

And it shall be that whatsoever soul shall not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.

24 Y ea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

And indeed all the prophets from Samuel and those in succession after, as many as have spoken, have announced also these days.

25 Y e are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

Ye are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God appointed to our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

26 U nto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

To you first God, having raised up his servant, has sent him, blessing you in turning each one from your wickedness.
