1 G od, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
God having spoken in many parts and in many ways formerly to the fathers in the prophets,
2 H ath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
at the end of these days has spoken to us in Son, whom he has established heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 W ho being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
who being effulgence of his glory and expression of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, having made the purification of sins, set himself down on the right hand of the greatness on high,
4 B eing made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
taking a place by so much better than the angels, as he inherits a name more excellent than they.
5 F or unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
For to which of the angels said he ever, Thou art my Son: this day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him for father, and he shall be to me for son?
6 A nd again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
and again, when he brings in the firstborn into the habitable world, he says, And let all God's angels worship him.
7 A nd of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
And as to the angels he says, Who makes his angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire;
8 B ut unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
but as to the Son, Thy throne, O God, to the age of the age, and a sceptre of uprightness the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 T hou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Thou hast loved righteousness and hast hated lawlessness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with oil of gladness above thy companions.
10 A nd, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
And, Thou in the beginning, Lord, hast founded the earth, and works of thy hands are the heavens.
11 T hey shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
They shall perish, but thou continuest still; and they all shall grow old as a garment,
12 A nd as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
and as a covering shalt thou roll them up, and they shall be changed; but thou art the Same, and thy years shall not fail.
13 B ut to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
But as to which of the angels said he ever, Sit at my right hand until I put thine enemies footstool of thy feet?
14 A re they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out for service on account of those who shall inherit salvation?
