1 T hen Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

提 幔 人 以 利 法 回 答 说 ：

2 I f we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?

人 若 想 与 你 说 话 ， 你 就 厌 烦 麽 ？ 但 谁 能 忍 住 不 说 呢 ？

3 B ehold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.

你 素 来 教 导 许 多 的 人 ， 又 坚 固 软 弱 的 手 。

4 T hy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.

你 的 言 语 曾 扶 助 那 将 要 跌 倒 的 人 ； 你 又 使 软 弱 的 膝 稳 固 。

5 B ut now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

但 现 在 祸 患 临 到 你 ， 你 就 昏 迷 ， 挨 近 你 ， 你 便 惊 惶 。

6 I s not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?

你 的 倚 靠 不 是 在 你 敬 畏 神 麽 ？ 你 的 盼 望 不 是 在 你 行 事 纯 正 麽 ？

7 R emember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?

请 你 追 想 ： 无 辜 的 人 有 谁 灭 亡 ？ 正 直 的 人 在 何 处 剪 除 ？

8 E ven as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.

按 我 所 见 ， 耕 罪 孽 、 种 毒 害 的 人 都 照 样 收 割 。

9 B y the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

神 一 出 气 ， 他 们 就 灭 亡 ； 神 一 发 怒 ， 他 们 就 消 没 。

10 T he roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.

狮 子 的 吼 叫 和 猛 狮 的 声 音 尽 都 止 息 ； 少 壮 狮 子 的 牙 齿 也 都 敲 掉 。

11 T he old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad.

老 狮 子 因 绝 食 而 死 ； 母 狮 之 子 也 都 离 散 。

12 N ow a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.

我 暗 暗 地 得 了 默 示 ； 我 耳 朵 也 听 其 细 微 的 声 音 。

13 I n thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,

在 思 念 夜 中 、 异 象 之 间 ， 世 人 沉 睡 的 时 候 ，

14 F ear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.

恐 惧 、 战 兢 临 到 我 身 ， 使 我 百 骨 打 战 。

15 T hen a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:

有 灵 从 我 面 前 经 过 ， 我 身 上 的 毫 毛 直 立 。

16 I t stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,

那 灵 停 住 ， 我 却 不 能 辨 其 形 状 ； 有 影 像 在 我 眼 前 。 我 在 静 默 中 听 见 有 声 音 说 ：

17 S hall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?

必 死 的 人 岂 能 比 神 公 义 麽 ？ 人 岂 能 比 造 他 的 主 洁 净 麽 ？

18 B ehold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:

主 不 信 靠 他 的 臣 仆 ， 并 且 指 他 的 使 者 为 愚 昧 ；

19 H ow much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?

何 况 那 住 在 土 房 、 根 基 在 尘 土 里 、 被 蠹 虫 所 毁 坏 的 人 呢 ？

20 T hey are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.

早 晚 之 间 ， 就 被 毁 灭 ， 永 归 无 有 ， 无 人 理 会 。

21 D oth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.

他 帐 棚 的 绳 索 岂 不 从 中 抽 出 来 呢 ？ 他 死 ， 且 是 无 智 慧 而 死 。
