1 A nd he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury.
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury,
2 A nd he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.
3 A nd he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all:
So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all;
4 f or all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.
for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple
5 A nd as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said,
Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
6 A s for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
“These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.” The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
7 A nd they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?
So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?”
8 A nd he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and, The time is at hand: go ye not after them.
And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He, ’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them.
9 A nd when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must needs come to pass first; but the end is not immediately.
But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.”
10 T hen said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom;
Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11 a nd there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.
And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
12 B ut before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake.

13 I t shall turn out unto you for a testimony.
But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
14 S ettle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer:
Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
15 f or I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay.

16 B ut ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.
17 A nd ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.
18 A nd not a hair of your head shall perish.
But not a hair of your head shall be lost.
19 I n your patience ye shall win your souls.
By your patience possess your souls. The Destruction of Jerusalem
20 B ut when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.
“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
21 T hen let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter therein.

22 F or these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 W oe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people.
But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
24 A nd they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. The Coming of the Son of Man
25 A nd there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;

26 m en fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27 A nd then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 B ut when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh.

29 A nd he spake to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:
Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
30 w hen they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh.
When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.
31 E ven so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh.
So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
32 V erily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished.
Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place.
33 H eaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. The Importance of Watching
34 B ut take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.
35 f or so shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth.
For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 B ut watch ye at every season, making supplication, that ye may prevail to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
37 A nd every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet.
And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet.
38 A nd all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.
Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.
