1 A fter these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and he manifested himself on this wise.
After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself:
2 T here was together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.
3 S imon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and entered into the boat; and that night they took nothing.
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.
4 B ut when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
5 J esus therefore saith unto them, Children, have ye aught to eat? They answered him, No.
Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.”
6 A nd he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some. ” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
7 T hat disciple therefore whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his coat about him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.
8 B ut the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits off), dragging the net full of fishes.
But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.
9 S o when they got out upon the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.
Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.
10 J esus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now taken.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”
11 S imon Peter therefore went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, the net was not rent.
Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.
12 J esus saith unto them, Come and break your fast. And none of the disciples durst inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord.
13 J esus cometh, and taketh the bread, and giveth them, and the fish likewise.
Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.
14 T his is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead. Jesus Restores Peter
15 S o when they had broken their fast, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
16 H e saith to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Tend my sheep.
He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
17 H e saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.
18 V erily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.”
19 N ow this he spake, signifying by what manner of death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.” The Beloved Disciple and His Book
20 P eter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also leaned back on his breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is he that betrayeth thee?
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”
21 P eter therefore seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?”
22 J esus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.
Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”
23 T his saying therefore went forth among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, that he should not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?”
24 T his is the disciple that beareth witness of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his witness is true.
This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.
25 A nd there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that should be written.
And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.
