1 A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, a habitation Thou -- Thou hast been, To us -- in generation and generation,
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
2 B efore mountains were brought forth, And Thou dost form the earth and the world, Even from age unto age Thou God.
Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
3 T hou turnest man unto a bruised thing, And sayest, Turn back, ye sons of men.
You turn man to destruction, And say, “Return, O children of men.”
4 F or a thousand years in Thine eyes as yesterday, For it passeth on, yea, a watch by night.
For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night.
5 T hou hast inundated them, they are asleep, In the morning as grass he changeth.
You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up:
6 I n the morning it flourisheth, and hath changed, At evening it is cut down, and hath withered.
In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.
7 F or we were consumed in Thine anger, And in Thy fury we have been troubled.
For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified.
8 T hou hast set our iniquities before Thee, Our hidden things at the light of Thy face,
You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.
9 F or all our days pined away in Thy wrath, We consumed our years as a meditation.
For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh.
10 D ays of our years, in them seventy years, And if, by reason of might, eighty years, Yet their enlargement labour and vanity, For it hath been cut off hastily, and we fly away.
The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 W ho knoweth the power of Thine anger? And according to Thy fear -- Thy wrath?
Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.
12 T o number our days aright let know, And we bring the heart to wisdom.
So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
13 T urn back, O Jehovah, till when? And repent concerning Thy servants.
Return, O Lord! How long? And have compassion on Your servants.
14 S atisfy us at morn Thy kindness, And we sing and rejoice all our days.
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
15 C ause us to rejoice according to the days Wherein Thou hast afflicted us, The years we have seen evil.
Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil.
16 L et Thy work appear unto Thy servants, And Thine honour on their sons.
Let Your work appear to Your servants, And Your glory to their children.
17 A nd let the pleasantness of Jehovah our God be upon us, And the work of our hands establish on us, Yea, the work of our hands establish it!
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.
