1 N ow this is the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom.

Now these are the generations of Esau (the same is Edom).

2 E sau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite; Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

4 N ow Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, and Basemath bore Reuel.

And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Basemath bare Reuel;

5 A nd Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

and Oholibamah bare Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, that were born unto him in the land of Canaan.

6 T hen Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the persons of his household, his cattle and all his animals, and all his goods which he had gained in the land of Canaan, and went to a country away from the presence of his brother Jacob.

And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the souls of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his possessions, which he had gather in the land of Canaan; and went into a land away from his brother Jacob.

7 F or their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land where they were strangers could not support them because of their livestock.

For their substance was too great for them to dwell together; and the land of their sojournings could not bear them because of their cattle.

8 S o Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau is Edom.

And Esau dwelt in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.

9 A nd this is the genealogy of Esau the father of the Edomites in Mount Seir.

And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:

10 T hese were the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, and Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau.

11 A nd the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.

12 N ow Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son, and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.

And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these are the sons of Adah, Esau's wife.

13 T hese were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife.

14 T hese were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon. And she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. The Chiefs of Edom

And these were the sons of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah.

15 T hese were the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn son of Esau, were Chief Teman, Chief Omar, Chief Zepho, Chief Kenaz,

16 C hief Korah, Chief Gatam, and Chief Amalek. These were the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom. They were the sons of Adah.

17 T hese were the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: Chief Nahath, Chief Zerah, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah. These were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

18 A nd these were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife: Chief Jeush, Chief Jaalam, and Chief Korah. These were the chiefs who descended from Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah.

And these are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau's wife: chief Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah: these are the chiefs that came of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.

19 T hese were the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these were their chiefs. The Sons of Seir

These are the sons of Esau, and these are their chiefs: the same is Edom.

20 T hese were the sons of Seir the Horite who inhabited the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan and Shobal and Zibeon and Anah,

21 D ishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.

and Dishon and Ezer and Dishan: these are the chiefs that came of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.

22 A nd the sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam. Lotan’s sister was Timna.

And the children of Lotan were Hori and Heman. And Lotan's sister was Timna.

23 T hese were the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

And these are the children of Shobal: Alvan and Manahath and Ebal, Shepho and Onam.

24 T hese were the sons of Zibeon: both Ajah and Anah. This was the Anah who found the water in the wilderness as he pastured the donkeys of his father Zibeon.

And these are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; this is Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.

25 T hese were the children of Anah: Dishon and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.

And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah.

26 T hese were the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

And these are the children of Dishon: Hemdan and Eshban and Ithran and Cheran.

27 T hese were the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

These are the children of Ezer: Bilhan and Zaavan and Akan.

28 T hese were the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

29 T hese were the chiefs of the Horites: Chief Lotan, Chief Shobal, Chief Zibeon, Chief Anah,

32 B ela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

33 A nd when Bela died, Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his place.

And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.

34 W hen Jobab died, Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.

And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead.

35 A nd when Husham died, Hadad the son of Bedad, who attacked Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his place. And the name of his city was Avith.

And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.

36 W hen Hadad died, Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place.

And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.

37 A nd when Samlah died, Saul of Rehoboth- by -the-River reigned in his place.

And Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by the River reigned in his stead.

38 W hen Saul died, Baal-Hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place.

And Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.

39 A nd when Baal-Hanan the son of Achbor died, Hadar reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab. The Chiefs of Esau

40 A nd these were the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families and their places, by their names: Chief Timnah, Chief Alvah, Chief Jetheth,

43 C hief Magdiel, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. Esau was the father of the Edomites.
